Of course, the food prices are good at Walmart. Today I picked up Jumbo eggs at just $1.18/dozen.
However, there are also many things I order from Amazon such as my recent 22" Weber grill. It was listed at $149 but had a $15 discount.
Amazon is great for lots of things.
FOOD is not one of them.
I just cancelled Fresh when prices for everthing went into the stratosphere and kept on going.
The prices for meat make .it seem like pre war Germany.
A pound of choped meat is like 5 or 6 bucks.
I fired Frewsh. Kept Prime.
My extended family in the Philippines is complaining about higher prices, especially for food.
I'll be there in April and will look into what could be happening there.
The difference is sales tax. I don’t pay any tax on most items I get from Amazon. For the items I do pay tax on, it is only about 2 or 3%. At wallyworld, I pay 7.6% on everything. It adds up quick.
I try to stay out of Walmart; their online is good for toys etc and I’ll pick it up..
Every time I look for something on Amazon, I get lost in their search - and when I find what I want the prices are always more than Ebay. Check for new items on Ebay - AND it comes a lot faster than with regular shipping on Amazon...
For books, try abebooks.com - used books for 3.70 or more with free shipping..
I order from both. I never pay shipping charges, or almost never.
It has become standard that the things I get really cheap at the Walmart site are not Walmart products. They are third party sellers who use the giant marketer to handle the sale.
Basically the same with Amazon. One thing I have noticed about Amazon, more than Walmart is the same item will vary dramatically from different sellers.
I also really study the ratings from purchasers. They seem to be honest.
Stupid article.
> Who’s Really Cheaper?
Unless you have my shopping list you can’t tell me. And it could change next week if you do have my list. Anyone looking for a single place to buy EVERYTHING doesn’t care about cost.
I have Amazon Prime. But I always check other sites (e.g. walmart) and do a search before buying. Then I pick the best based on $/shipping-time (saving 50 cents doesn’t matter if I need it tomorrow but I just got something that took 6 weeks when amazon could have done it in 2 days). It’s easy enough that even a millenial can do if if they care about “who’s really cheaper”
If it won’t fit in my mailbox, I’d rather get if from Walmart.
Ordering online sometimes I wonder if you get goods that are rejects, near expiration, definitely dented cans, or overstocks from stores around the country. And I like their Great Value coffee which at least once was unsealed meaning I didn't think anything was added to it but it did affect the freshness. Too much a hassle to complain and return, just didn't taste as good.
I look and compare prices all over. Even Jet.com is ok but not always competitive. And I don't like to spend too much time shopping online. And amazon free shipping you have to watch because if an associate seller shipped from a different location (often) it doesn't qualify for free shipping and is sky high. So watch it. I don't use the 2-day premium method, not cost effective for me.
Amazon online ordering is much better designed and user friendly. Walmart sucks, and they don't code as well for different browsers. And at times impossibly slow. Amazon is always fast. Plus now I should be able to toggle between shopping online or local Walmart for pick-up using two different passwords, and it doesn't work. And I did find their 800# but sometimes they aren't much help.
Amazon returns or problems work pretty well if you don't deal with a real person. I wouldn't really trust anything where I didn't talk to a real person at Walmart ever "took" but fell off into some cyber black hole.
But I had one great experience with Walmart. I ordered a box which tracking had showed was delivered but didn't show up on my porch. So far stealing hasn't been an issue, checked to see if they dropped it in back thinking my house is a duplex or on the porch next door.
So I call them and explain what happened. They put in another order. Late that night, I flipped on the porch light and there was my box. Everything in good shape. So I call next morning to see if it was too late to cancel the new order, it hadn't been shipped yet, they cancelled and thanked me for being honest. And they gave me a generous "good customer" refund on a previous order which was more than the current one which seemed odd. Can't remember how much but appreciated it.
I know I go on and on sometimes, but when I started using the local store searches, they only allow a 1-hour window for pickup. So I make screen captures of the item which has a picture price and aisle location and assemble a list. It's real helpful to the person who shopped for me. Or even if you do your own shopping, might save time if you aren't used to where everything is.
.
It is possible to buy quality products on Amazon, not so at Walmart.
.
Many of the products offered in Walmart are special, low-quality versions made just for Walmart so they can offer a cheap price. If you buy the ‘same thing’ somewhere else, you will discover the quality is better.
I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping at Target and can sometimes pick up items at my Super Target within 2 hours of placing the order.
Its now straightforward for me. The politics of Amazon has driven me to online Walmart. Always, unless Walmart doesn’t have it.
I have 1500 Amazon orders. 73 this year so far.
Walmart is cheaper on cheap things. Amazon is cheaper on expensive things. Walmart has horrible packaging and an order minimum for free shipping.
It’s almost impossible to navigate Walmart web site.
They need to copy Amazon site, maybe then they might be competitive. The prices are cheaper at Walmart on food stuff but not on tech products.
I have noticed that the local Walmarts will often put things on clearance. Sometimes hardly reducing the price at all but also sometimes cutting the item to half of even as much as 90% off.
Today, I purchased two five quart jugs of Pennzoil full synthetic 5w-30 motor oil for $13 each.
The local Walmart Supercenter is OK on boxed or canned food, I guess they call them staples. On the other hand their produce and beef are really high. The beef is always choice but it often seems to be not that attractive. No marbling etc. which choice is supposed to have.
Walmart adds prepared dinners, meal kits in blow to Blue Apron
My Walmart was handing out $10.00 off coupons for your first curbside grocery order.
I’m going to use it for dog food, paper towels and TP.....things I don’t like loading into the car.
“I’ve gotten some good deals ordering online from Walmart. No shipping charge for pickup at your nearest Walmart.”
indeed. walmart has the best price by far for the queen-sized buckwheat hull pillows:

I would also mention, Walmart has the best customer service of any store. I once needed a business related receipt from a purchase 4 months earlier. I called about it and they said give them an hour and they would call back. In about 30 minutes they retrieved and printed me a copy. Walmart also has the cheapest prescription drugs of any sort, even veterinary prescription drugs. And, Walmart takes returns on non perishable items for either 60 or 90 days. No other vendor comes close.
Amazon has failed to back a couple of faulty products. I dropped them more than a year ago. Jeff Bezos is a rat party, Obama supporting, criminal and he owns the WaPo wrap of leftist lies.
