“I don’t understand why people want to brag about being the same color as the people who created the world wars.”
If all you’re getting out of the tremendous success of Europeans over the last 2500 years is two world wars that lasted for a total of 10 years, then I think you’re missing the point.
What an idiotic thing to say. How about the people who ended the world wars?
The "NATTY BUMPO" tales and especially THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS" are filled with such details. Okay...so these are works of fiction, but they ARE based on what was going on.
It's one thing to be "proud of ones heritage"; however, NOT when patting ones self on the back re some ancestor having participated in a single murderous battle! ;^)
And very early tribes wiped out the aboriginal folks of North America. That’s the sad history of the human race; it ain’t just whitey.
The history of mankind is written in blood; no matter what race, ethnicity, or religion!
DAMN Rousseau and his patently ridiculous "NOBLE SAVAGE" crap! And they don't even teach that, anymore.
The old “man is born free but is everywhere in chains” bit? Beautiful writing, terrible philosophy.
And Rousseau's ideas on how to teach kids is also NUTS; though private schools like SUMMERHILL in the UK and BARD ( the boarding school which is attached to the college , here, and some others, used his idiotic ideas...re allowing kids to ONLY study the things they wanted to and ignore other classes.
I know I have a North American ancestor and suspect I have an African ancestor. And the point IS? Seeing how as You say that ALL people descended from AFRICA, Your comment is STOOPID.
At this point we are all mutts, that is a fact.
I worked on the genealogy of my family and my husband’s and it becomes obvious if you go back far enough. That is just tracing the links that ancestors admitted to in public, found on documents.
Objectively, many of the ‘small’ populations of Indians were small because of anarchy gone wild. He who had the biggest stick and the most buddies got the girl and the food.
America flew against Japan over China because of the sinking of the Panay and the “Rape of Nanking,” much of which was captured on film and displayed to the world. Invading for resources was one thing but the sheer extent of Japanese atrocities demanded action against complete genocide. With Japan intent on all of China, and then the USSR, it was imperative to contain Japan below the line of defense set by the remaining Chinese defenses in the north.
So American involvement in the first sino war was quite a bit different than Mexico plotting to invade the US, and then allowing German factories in Mexico to run for 25 more years while claiming neutrality — in direct conflict with our treaties. Mexico’s tactic of exporting their citizens as a means of grabbing back some of the land and resources of America just contributed to distrust, not based on skin color, but on historical behavior of our neighbor to the south.
The Indians had small populations because the disorganized structure meant a large section of land was needed to sustain even a small group - and even then they had to migrate (at least between summer and winter areas).
I’m not debating the merits of the war against Japan, just saying war existed long before Pearl Harbor. Japan and the USSR were quite cozy after their strife in the 1930s; Hitler’s failure in the USSR can be squarely attributed to the peace between the USSR and Japan, since it allowed the Soviets to transfer combat-hardened troops from the East to Moscow. While Japs were killing Americans (and others) in the islands, the USSR had a happy ceasefire with them until the final months of the war (when they basically seized huge areas without opposition - setting the stage for the Korean War 5 years later).
I live within a couple of miles of two sites destroyed by German sympathizers prior to our entry in WWI; the “Canadian Railway Car Company” in Lyndhurst NJ and Black Tom Island in Jersey City NJ were both hit by saboteurs furious that we were building weapons for England in these facilities while allegedly neutral. Again, we wouldn’t trade (anything) with Germany because of England’s blockade of their coast.
