Indrek Wichman, a mechanical engineer professor at Michigan State University, has eyed a troubling trend of social justice warriors making their way through the humanities and social sciences and, to his despair, they now have their sights set on leveling their destruction on engineering.
WichmanHaving spent 30 years teaching mechanical engineering, Wichman acknowledges things have changed dramatically and is concerned that “feelings” and “micro-aggressions” have taken a predominant role, much to the detriment of the hard sciences.
“The world we engineers envisioned as young students is not quite as simple and straightforward as we had wished,” he states in a paper in IntellectualTakeout.org, “because a phalanx of social justice warriors, ideologues, egalitarians, and opportunistic careerists has ensconced itself in America’s colleges and universities. The destruction they have caused in the humanities and social sciences has now reached to engineering.”

I was assigned to review a new book that had been released — Stochastic Control Theory. I discovered that the first 80 pages did nothing more than make the case that: even though Communism [according to Marx] was based on the proven fact that there was no such thing as randomness, that the world was pre-determined ... the world is so complicated that not all causes can be identified, that sometimes it is useful to use a mathematical fiction to simplify calculations by pretending there is randomness. Those 80 pages were needed to convince the Soviet Union Scientific Council the control theory was compatible with Communism. 80 pages.

I read somewhere that in ancient Rome (or was it Greece?) that an architect of a bridge was made to stand under his creation when it was first put into use, to assure that it would hold up and not collapse on him.
We keep hiring social justice champion engineers here in Memphis. They all self terminate in about a year and look for government sector engineering jobs where they just sub contract anything they are required to do. They cannot function in private industry.
The professors are told to pass them. They do. We have a female black lesbian electrical engineer intern who does not know what a motor starter looks like? Nor will she open a cabinet to service one. She thinks gearboxes are motors.
