Ben Carson Was Right About Slaves As Immigrants
Canada Free Press ^ | 03/07/17 | Douglas V. Gibbs

Posted on 03/07/2017 1:39:23 PM PST by Sean_Anthony

Carson was talking about the work ethic and dreams of immigrants who came to the United States through Ellis Island

Ben Carson is so intelligent, it screws up the liberal leftists who believe they are smarter than everyone else. For example, the liberal left was all over Ben Carson in November of 2015 when he said, “Jefferson, seemed to have very deep insight into the way that people would react and tried to craft our Constitution in a way that it would control people’s natural tendencies and control the natural growth of the government.” Thomas Jefferson, however, was in France during the Constitutional Convention in 1787, so the Democrats and their minions leaped all over it, and accused Dr. Carson of being in error.

I knew it would take .0003 seconds for the left to leap on him for his choice of words.
F the left.

Children migrating with their parents are not voluntarily arriving. Yet they are called immigrants. Why not slaves?

This is just the latest meltdown, the latest mock outrage, from the left.

They take something someone says, something where the word choice could have been better, and then take it out of context, then pile on and attempt to demean and destroy and assassinate the character of said person. All because he/she said something inartfully.

Last night on CNN, Don Lemon was oh so concerned about this, what a serious situation this was, as Don and his split screen cast of idiots pontificated about all of this.................

I couldn’t take much, I changed the channel.......

I knew what Dr. Ben meant, but he could have and should have stated things more clearly. I can only hope he improves over time, or better yet, hire a small team of articulate spokespeople. The Cabinet member doesn’t have to be the sole face of the cabinet response team. He needs someone other than his loyal wife to proofread any speeches.

The Donald sees something of administrative value in Dr. Ben, so we will give him more time. Donald
s instincts have been right before. Ms Devos, the education head also had a difficult first few weeks. Takes a while to get your Sea-Legs. Prayers have been said.

Immigrant = migrant in. It’s a neutral word, and does not imply the presence or absence of coercion.

So criminals who were sent here from Great Britain were not immigrants. The same goes for Australia’s early colonists.

Good point.

What Carson said was what John Kennedy (or his ghost writer) was writing a half-century ago. It was what Franklin Roosevelt may have implied when he said "We are all the descendants of immigrants and revolutionaries."

It was awkward and he probably should have phrased it differently, but the fake "shocked, shocked" response of some in the media is ridiculous.

Interesting how captured blacks from Africa were chained in the hold of a ship for weeks, barely fed sold again into slavery in the south, their families torn apart in slave auctions and are compared to convicted criminals sent to Georgia which was a penal state and to Australia. When someone is forcibly sent to another country that is not immigration. They didn’t voluntarily go. Those folks coming through Ellis Island in New York were there voluntarily, wanting to immigrate. Those others had no choice in the matter. But I guess, liberal reinterpretation of the meanings of words to suit their emotional well being is now the norm.

Here is Obama in 2015: Certainly, it wasn’t easy for those of African heritage who had not come here voluntarily and yet in their own way were immigrants themselves. There was discrimination and hardship and poverty. But, like you, they no doubt found inspiration in all those who had come before them. And they were able to muster faith that, here in America, they might build a better life and give their children something

And on Facebook the idiots were screaming that the slaves were kidnapped by whites. Hardly. They were sold by dark Muslims.
