Super Drone with Machine Gun
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 2/24/2017 | J Hines

Posted on 02/24/2017 6:53:53 AM PST by w1n1

Audrius Lotuzas of FPS Russia demonstrate this super drone and its capabilities.

This Quad Rotor drone is decked out with camera and a submachine gun with 100 rounds of ammo. The type of weapon and ammo is not mentioned. The drone can speed up to 30 mph and climb up to a quarter of a mile in altitude. It is controlled by a program that you use on a tablet.

Audrius goes on to demonstrate the firepower on multiple mannequins with tannernite attached and in another setup the drone shoots a gasoline can with mannequins sitting around.

Though most of the demonstration didn't make much sense other than to watch things get shot at and blown up, all in the name of fun. See the footage here, what do you all think?

Where is the edge of the GREEN SCREEN?

My impression is that it looks like the back side of the fellow at FakeBook.

Fun, but does not make much sense as a weapon. You still need a camera with a cross hair or other sights registered to the gun on the drone.

If you have to be close enough to watch both the drone and the targets to make it work, it loses a great deal of effectiveness.

Still, It is a clear direction we are moving toward. Imagine such a drone with good optics. You operate it from a fox hole without exposing yourself. It seeks out the enemy, either to draw fire to expose their position, or to take them out. Every infantry man will want his own personal ground support drone.

Now imagine a coordianted constellatin of them working with a company of infantry. Best of all, they are cheap. For the price of one A-10 Warthog, you get 2,000 drones.

They are just the thing for low level warfare.

..first off...if an eagle can take out a drone
the recoil from anything that discharges a round that powerful would send it ...who knows where
Secondly....if it could stabilize that long...the firing and impact would be instantaneous...

did you see where the gun was pointed when he turned to talk to the camera after taking out the first group?

Submachine guns use pistol ammo. It takes a HP rifle to detonate Tannerite.

There’s a version now for .22. Maybe that’s what he’s using.

To me this drone only makes sense as an assassin’s weapon.

The drone only carries 100 rounds. Not enough for tactical operations

The speed and range also are not enough for tactical purposes.

But for targeted assassination it would be effective. The assassin could get close enough for the drone to fly in to a compound and unload its magazine in to the target. If the drone is lost it is of little consequence.

The article does not state the caliber of the weapon. But if it is 0.223 or larger a smaller caliber would be sufficient for assassination and may boost the chance of mission success.

Pure BS. If you look at the so-called ‘machine gun’ it consists of a portion of an AR upper, only.

As integrated air support for a squad or platoon, it would work. Send it out to scout for the enemy, engage whoever it finds, then fly back to the platoon for resupply.

I could also see outfitting an armored unit with a few. It sits on top of a charging station on the vehicle, and gets sent out to check for IEDs and anti tank missile units, engaging whatever it finds.

This is something that could be manufactured easily. Rebels and insurgents would quickly find uses for it.

My thoughts as well. Single-shot .22 short or better yet a small explosive charge (like 1/8 or 1/4 ounce HE). A quick get up close and personal, then self-destruct on command - an air-borne suicide bomber.

A YouTube demo HERE of formation flying - thought it was neat when they went through a "window" (at 1:08) - first thought was the above scenario.

Possibly if the military versions are much quieter than those available to the public.

As much noise as the civilian drone make they are not going to sneak up on the enemy and resent news reports of drones being shot down when becoming intrusive shows they are vulnerable to shotgun fire.

I can only see the drones today as being sacrificial use and forget tools in combat. If you manage to get it back great but typically one use only devises. Buy them in bulk and hope for the best.
