Liberals are mad at Wal-Mart for NOT building new stores?????

Well this seems like it’s right out of the Twilight Zone: liberals in Washington D.C. are upset that Wal-Mart had decided not to build two news stores!

The Washington Post reports:

District leaders furious Walmart breaking promise to build stores in poor neighborhoods

January 15, 2015

Walmart abruptly announced Friday that it was abandoning a promise to build stores in Washington’s poorest neighborhoods

Under the initial deal, Walmart could build stores almost anywhere in the District, as long as it opened two stores in its poorest wards and areas of the city sometimes referred to as food deserts, with few – if any – options for fresh produce and groceries. One was planned for Skyland Town Center in Southeast Washington and the other at Capitol Gateway Marketplace in Northeast Washington…

I would expect liberals to be celebrating, not complaining, about the fact that Wal-Mart has decided not to build two new stores.

Hey liberals! Make up your mind! Either you like Wal-Mart, or you hate Wal-Mart. You can’t have it both ways!

They have to build the new Walmart so they can watch it be burned by racially motivated arsonists? I think no way.

Liberals simply need to have the opportunity to be pissed off about something. I remember about 10 years ago, Wal-Mart wanted to build a superstore in South Central LA, and were run out of town.

And now they’re pissed because Wal-Mart won’t come to da ‘hood.

Well, eff ‘em.

Liberalism exhibits, among other problems, cognitive dissonance.
Combine that with its reality disconnect, and there’s a mental illness at its foundation.

“You can’t have it both ways!”
Yes, they can because they live in Utopia La-La Land!

These cities are torn between biting the hands that feed and trying to force more hands to contribute to the pot. While they like to perceive themselves as desired clients, the fact is that business is just impractical in those areas. Why open a business that gets “Baltimored” on a daily basis by an endless stream of shoplifters?

As their tax bases hit rock bottom, these areas are ratcheting up the pressure for anyone to come and provide for their gibsmedats. Federal and state aid only goes so far...

You can't have it both ways!

One of the primary reasons to be a liberal is so you can have it both ways and you can feel good about what you say today even if it contradicts what you said to feel good about yourself yesterday. And "feeling good" is what matters, not results.

There’s a fairly small Walmart NE of Baltimore. The store is landlocked so they can’t really add on that much to it. Instead, they bought property 3 miles down the road.

Of course, it’s not that the liberal idiots don’t like Wal-Mart. It’s for the safety of the CHIIIILLLLLDDDDDRRRREEEEEENNNNN.

Even though all permits were correct, the loudmouths won the day. There will be no Wal-Mart. I’m surprised the original store was not on the closing list.

It is the Unions that Hate Walmart. The leader in that hate movement is the United Food and Commercial Workers Union International which has been trying to organize Walmart workers with no success for decades. Walmart recently announced the closing of over 200 stores, so why should they build new stores in neighborhoods where they will be continually robbed and perhaps burned down? I would call this a good “Business Decision”.

Wal-Mart, being the largest retailer on earth is an easy target, from the left and the right. They are damned if they do and damned if they do not.
Hell, all you have to do is read some of the posts here on Free Republic. some dislike Wal-Mart more than they do Obama or Trump or Cruz or Rubio or ........................

If you follow all the boycotts recommended on FR, you better be a really good gardener with a huge supply of heirloom seeds.

I would expect liberals to be celebrating, not complaining, about the fact that Wal-Mart has decided not to build two new stores.

Those two stores in the ghetto sections were to be giveaway stores. It is only right that Wal Mart give away its merchandise to the preferred poor. The stealing would have moved more merchandise than the purchases. At the WalMart near here which is not close to the ghetto I do not understand why they are even open after 9 PM. The obamanites at night steal wholesale. It is hard to call it shoplifting. There is nothing surreptious about it. Lines of people rush out the door with carts loaded with TVs and other high dollar stuff. There are security guards and security people following them around but they are not allowed to actually interfere with the theft. I was one of those security guards for a week then made the company put me back at the shipyard. All I was allowed to do was ask to see receipts. Then when I was pushed aside I was not allowed to do any more than inform the manager. One of the other guards who is a bit crazy, held a pair at gunpoint in the parking lot with probably 3000$ worth of goods. When the police came the manager came out and said to let them go the store declined to prosecute. The not-supposed-to-be-armed guard was admonished by the deputy to not do that any more. WM banned him from the property.

Possibly local $15 minimum wage, and local laws about minimum hours and family leave taxes, and then they wonder why WalMart can’t open there? In those neighborhoods they also lose a lot to theft.

They got their wage increase and now they don’t understand why over 200 of the stores are closing? They don’t have a lick of common sense. Not one. They get what they deserve.

Of course they can have it both ways -- that is the heart of leftist Orwellian Doublethink.

Wow. Just mentally comparing your account with articles reporting similar behavior by recent immigrants (young adult, teen, and juvenile males) in Europe. In both cases, blatant thievery with no real likelihood of punishment.

Have to believe that Wal-Mart’s decision to tolerate theft and not prosecute is dictated by some sort of corporate-level cost-benefit analysis involving the lawyers. Enough profits coming in elsewhere to cover losses as long as you don’t incur the cost involved in prosecuting? Allowing theft cheaper than getting an employee/security person injured/killed or being sued by a “didn’t do nuffin” or his/her family?

Modern democracy. Amazing. And disheartening.

This obvious disregard for common expectations of public behavior is the on-ramp to fascism and eventual dictatorship.

Wow! That’s quite a story from your own experience as a Wal-Mart security guard.

It would just have to be a “loss leader” with the amount
of “justified” shoplifting that would surely go on in
those stores. It’s enough in just regular Walmarts I guess.
The looting & burning opportunities would be just too
tempting, and, of course, declared “justified” by the
Liberals.
