I would expect liberals to be celebrating, not complaining, about the fact that Wal-Mart has decided not to build two new stores.

Those two stores in the ghetto sections were to be giveaway stores. It is only right that Wal Mart give away its merchandise to the preferred poor. The stealing would have moved more merchandise than the purchases. At the WalMart near here which is not close to the ghetto I do not understand why they are even open after 9 PM. The obamanites at night steal wholesale. It is hard to call it shoplifting. There is nothing surreptious about it. Lines of people rush out the door with carts loaded with TVs and other high dollar stuff. There are security guards and security people following them around but they are not allowed to actually interfere with the theft. I was one of those security guards for a week then made the company put me back at the shipyard. All I was allowed to do was ask to see receipts. Then when I was pushed aside I was not allowed to do any more than inform the manager. One of the other guards who is a bit crazy, held a pair at gunpoint in the parking lot with probably 3000$ worth of goods. When the police came the manager came out and said to let them go the store declined to prosecute. The not-supposed-to-be-armed guard was admonished by the deputy to not do that any more. WM banned him from the property.

Wow. Just mentally comparing your account with articles reporting similar behavior by recent immigrants (young adult, teen, and juvenile males) in Europe. In both cases, blatant thievery with no real likelihood of punishment.

Have to believe that Wal-Mart’s decision to tolerate theft and not prosecute is dictated by some sort of corporate-level cost-benefit analysis involving the lawyers. Enough profits coming in elsewhere to cover losses as long as you don’t incur the cost involved in prosecuting? Allowing theft cheaper than getting an employee/security person injured/killed or being sued by a “didn’t do nuffin” or his/her family?

Modern democracy. Amazing. And disheartening.

This obvious disregard for common expectations of public behavior is the on-ramp to fascism and eventual dictatorship.

Wow! That’s quite a story from your own experience as a Wal-Mart security guard.
