Organic compounds have been found in solar systems throughout our galaxy. It has been known for a long time that comets capture and carry organic molecules around.

“...such as its organic-rich black crust...”
I’m guessing that it is not so much “organic” as it is carbon-rich (methane, etc.) Probably has nothing to do with “life”. The increasing areas of dark stuff? I imagine the visible surface will be changing quite a bit as it hurtles through space. Ice and stuff melting and streaming off?
From the snippet they want me to believe that it is like the dark stuff growing on the mashed potatoes in my fridge.

I’d love to find evidence of life in space. Even microbial life would do but so far there is zero evidence. There have been a few interesting suggestions of by products of life but those could also be produced by non organic chemical means.
Frankly I think the Spirit and Opportunity rovers have shown us our most likely looks at possible past life on mars. I’m a hopeful skeptic but some of the close up photos showed what looked for all the world like tiny marine fossils. However, without going there, collecting them and bringing them back for in depth study, they’re nothing but interesting rocks.

Imagine that. Aliens who don’t jump the border and kill the local species.

However, without going there, collecting them and bringing them back for in depth study, theyre nothing but interesting rocks. Oh come on. Take the plunge! Evidence is so twentieth century. This is NEW science! Declare them marine fossils with certainty and demand a few grants to study them. I will help you manage the studies for a percentage. We will have a consensus and more grants in no time.

It’s a rather sensationalistic hypothesis at best but the organic compounds do make you wonder.

So in their evidence free opinions there is life despite the fact that they cant prove it. They have conned census.

Time to do an Armageddon on that comet.

I think the point turns on the distinction between evidence and proof. There is unequivocal evidence for the existence of the Easter Bunny. There is no proof.
