I’d love to find evidence of life in space. Even microbial life would do but so far there is zero evidence. There have been a few interesting suggestions of by products of life but those could also be produced by non organic chemical means.

Frankly I think the Spirit and Opportunity rovers have shown us our most likely looks at possible past life on mars. I’m a hopeful skeptic but some of the close up photos showed what looked for all the world like tiny marine fossils. However, without going there, collecting them and bringing them back for in depth study, they’re nothing but interesting rocks.

Oh come on. Take the plunge! Evidence is so twentieth century. This is NEW science! Declare them marine fossils with certainty and demand a few grants to study them. I will help you manage the studies for a percentage. We will have a consensus and more grants in no time.

I simply think the odds are for it, but...this declaration is silly to me.
