Mitt Romney stated recently that the Confederate flag was "a symbol of racial hatred" and asked that it be removed from South Carolina's capital to honor victims of Charleston's deadly church shooting. President Obama agreed with Romney and believes the Confederate flag "belongs in a museum." Even before Dylann Roof murdered nine African-Americans at a historically black church, Southern institutions had decided to part ways with this "symbol of racial hatred." According to former Ole Miss Chancellor Robert Khayat, the University of Mississippi chose to "disassociate" itself from the Confederate flag in the late 1990s and has prospered ever since.
Said Mitt Romney.
So Rhett Butler, if he lived decades later, would be running oil in for the Nazis?
First the Stars and Bars.
Then the Stars and Stripes.
Then the Cross.
See how easy it is?
I must have missed the history lesson where the Confederacy systematically transported millions to death camps.
Romney is gone forever from the political scene and has no business commenting on South Carolina's state flag! Keep it flying.
Skeeter, on the other hand, is a foreign exchange student who belongs in Guantanamo and should keep his mouth shut regarding the right of a state to have a meaningful symbol flying above its state house.
Keep it flying! As long as it remains America has a chance.
Magic underwear is a symbol of hate for non Mormons traveling through their territory on their way to California and called the Mountain Meadows massacre
Ban magic underwear and ban car roof dog carriers
I’m waiting for Gone with the Wind to be removed from libraries - if it hasn’t been already. It’s never going to stop. Nikki Haley’s an idiot if she think this settles anything.
The Obama Sunrise is America’s Swastika and the Rising Sun combined. So there.
But if Anwar al Aulaqi’s phone number been found on his cell phone right under the number for the Dar al Hijrah mosque in Falls Church and over contact info for Jamaat ul Fuqra, or if Hillary Clinton’s email address was found in his computer... or if a CAIR brochure, Che T-shirt or a Weather Underground flyer had been found in his glove box... the media would ignore it as “irrelevant.”
I wonder how long it will take before the American Taliban dynamite Stone Mt.
1. Flags don’t kill people. People (with weapons) kill people.
2. The issue with the Confederate battle flag is complex. Yes, some hate groups have co-opted it, but at the same time, it represents resistance against what increasing numbers of people see as an intrusive, meddlesome central government that does not share their values.
3. It’s as if the United States is slowly coming apart at the seams. You already have 2 Americas. The secular America of the northeast, mid-Atlantic/Rust Belt and Pacific Coast; the traditional America of the Southeast, Texas and most of the midwest and mountain West. It’s a classic example of what divorce lawyers call irreconcilable differences. The USA is more divided than at any time since 1865. Hopefully, if separation does come, it’ll be peaceful.
Bingo. It's the Left's endless parade of grievances. There is no end. Grievances are their means to power. No matter how much one caves, there is always the next grievance. With the Left, you are always guilty, and there is no absolution.
Followed by Mt Rushmore......unless someone chips the likeness of zer0 there...probably re-purposing one of the 2 slaveholders.....probably Washington as it's bigger and more up front.
BULL****! You can’t goose step to “Zippity Doo Dah” or “Camptown Ladies”.
No, but it supported a system that systematically kept millions in shackles.
Personally, I don’t care about the Confederate flag. To the extent it is a symbol of division and hate, ironically, it is because the Democrats made it one. What I do care about is the Left’s relentless drive to destroy every historical symbol of America. They already are starting to go after the American flag as offensive.
