Stanley Kurtz, a senior fellow with the Ethics and Public Policy Center, sees America being fundamentally transformed by a host of pernicious Obama policies, including education initiatives which are nationalizing school curriculum without a single vote.
This month, Americas best and brightest high school students will take a controversial new advanced placement U.S. history (APUSH) test crafted by many of the same ideologues including David Coleman who birthed the unpopular Common Core standards for math and English. Scholarly critics of the APUSH framework, like Kurtz, are waking up to the dangers of the 70 or more pages of framework for teaching U.S. history issued by the College Board in 2012 to replace the five pages of general topics previously under-girding the flexible teaching of American history.
Warning of more subjects prescribed by the College Board, Kurtz says in this video interview that few are seeing the scope by which these progressives hope to nationalize Americas curriculum. Dissent and traditional notions will be less tolerated if the left continues unimpeded.

It is a shame that the students of today will have to spend twice as much time in school than previous generations because so much time will be needed to deprogram them from what comrade obama is having them taught to cripple them.
If you want to know what Hillary Clinton was saying when she said, It Takes a Village, or if you want to know about Cloward and Piven's origins, or if you wish to understand the Saul Alinsky tactics of a community organizer, this article is indispensable. It also tells us why we lose elections and why institution after institution in America has turned against conservatism. The headline in this thread has to do with education and why it has turned against conservatism. The answer is in this article.
perfect situation for Leftists. Dumbed down and drugged out citizens unable to push back when the Left governs a police state.
Bring back the "Un-American activities" committee .
We need another Joe McCarthy to set America right to get out of the scandals, the lies , the obfiscation, and the pi$$ING away of National debt to unfriendly governments. !..

I have NOT immersed myself in the Common Core or AP History debate, but have learned enough to think that it is pretty accurate to say much of it won’t be about America. It is hugely PC balanced. Very little military history. I haven’t read the whole AP test/curriculum, but I’m guessing very little honest business history.

Grassroots activists are encouraged by Kurtz to have their state legislators pass resolutions condemning the College Board framework and ask for new forms of competition to that groups monopoly.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
It is important to remember that AP is an “opt out,” and from my perspective as a professor, UNDESIRABLE, whether good, bad, or indifferent. The goal is to have a college classroom experience, not a “test out.” Parents often think their kids will be subject to less bias by opting out, but not true. Because of the nature of intro level classes-—at my school at least-—your chances are MUCH higher of having a conservative from among the adjunct faculty (usually small business people, military, housewives) than from the full-time lefty faculty.
That sounds as expected.
And....They are taught by high school teachers who, for the most part, do not in any manner have the training and experience of the professional and Ph.D. level historian found in a college campus classroom.
