Which offense is more serious? Denying a lesbian communion at a Catholic funeral? Or a female Episcopalian bishop hitting and killing a bicyclist? The Washington Post has picked (A). In 2012, they splashed across the front page (with a picture) that lesbian activist Barbara Johnson was denied communion at her mother's funeral.
On December 30, the Post buried a hit-and-run-bishop story on page B5 with the headline “Bishop put on leave after fatal crash: Episcopal diocese says Heather Cook drove car that killed bicyclist.” .......
"For the cycling community, this is kind of part of our grieving process," said Nate Evans, executive director of Bike Maryland, which organized the event with Bikemore, a bicycling advocacy organization. "It gives us a chance to get out and celebrate a cyclist's life.".

Episcopal officials have identified the driver of the car as Bishop Suffragan Heather Elizabeth Cook, the second-ranking official in the Diocese of Maryland. Police are investigating; no charges have been filed.
Cook was charged in 2010 with driving under the influence of alcohol in Caroline County. She pleaded guilty, received probation before judgment and was ordered to pay a $300 fine.
Evans said the focus Thursday was on Palermo.
"A lot of us are feeling upset right now over the way we lost Tom, over the circumstances, where it happened, how it happened," he told the crowd that gathered at the crash site. "We'll have a time for justice. But right now, the day is for Tom.".....
Cook, the daughter of an admitted alcoholic, was three times over Maryland's drunk-driving limit when she was stopped with vomit running down her shirt as she drove for miles on a shredded tire in 2010.
The cop who pulled her over even halted field sobriety tests because he was worried she would fall down and hurt herself DailyMail.com has learned.......

The double standard is alive and well.
More of a drunk crime against someone out for some exercise. Funny thing is, I don’t recall the NY Times condemning this as always unjustified.
