Bill Cosby was asked on NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday whether he had anything to say about the resurgence of allegations that he sexually assaulted multiple women years ago. He didn't. Instead, he shook his head, and refused to say a word.
Cosby's long comedy career and pedestal as one of America's favorite TV dads have been overshadowed in recent days, as the allegations have gained new attention, though they are not new. One of his accusers wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post on Thursday, an attempt at a Cosby meme generator was overrun with negative comments and Cosby's scheduled appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman next week has been canceled.
During all of this, Cosby has been silent. That silence continued in the interview broadcast Saturday morning.
NPR's Scott Simon, host of Weekend Edition Saturday, was interviewing Cosby and his wife, Camille, about a very different subject: their loan of more than 60 pieces of art to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art. They had a cordial discussion.
But then, at the end of the interview, Simon changed course. "This question gives me no pleasure, Mr. Cosby, but there have been serious allegations raised about you in recent days," he said. Cosby said nothing, and his body language couldn't be seen by radio listeners. Simon said, "You're shaking your head no."
It seemed as though the interview might have broached a subject that hadn't been agreed to beforehand, given that the story was originally about the art collection. "I'm in the news business," Simon explained. "I have to ask the question. Do you have any response to those charges?"
Again, Simon informed listeners that Cosby was shaking his head no.

Oh my. First i’ve heard of this.
Who’d have guessed NPR is racist too?
I don’t know the particulars of all of the allegations, but the accuser who penned the op-ed this week was a teenager, not a woman, when the assault(s) supposedly occurred.
Yeah... it seems Bill Cosby made a statement with regards to the riots in Ferguson which pissed off the ‘establishment’.
They are going all out to make him look bad so that black people won’t listen to his advice.
Can’t have the slaves gettin’ all stirred up.
Better check to see if Scott Simon is in the KKK. You can't ask Black people serious questions, and, he knows that.
I was shocked when I heard about this a few months ago. Mr. Cosby has made some conservative remarks so the press is no longer protecting him. One of the cases I read about involved the daughter of a friend of his and appeared legit. Also, all the cases I read were white women.
I had seen a young black man standing on a street corner across a police station. As I approached him, he asked me directions to some obscure street in the area. I told him I wasn't sure where it was and suggested he go into the police station for directions. He was absolutely adamant about NOT going into the station for fear of being incriminated for some crime. Another story. A black acquaintance of mine told me how his friend upon passing a police station was offered $40 to participate in a police line-up. It'll only take you ten minutes, he was told. $40? Sure. Wouldn't you know it, he was picked out of the line up as the perpetrator, was sent to prison for several years.
Thanks for the video.

He can’t deny it, it’s on video.
seriously though, why is it a story that he refused to talk to NPR about the allegations?
Why is that the story?
Yep, the timing is suspicious.
Cosby isn’t a conservative however regardless of a few things we agree with him on. The same can be said of a whole slew of leftist celebs out there. We might agree with them on certain things but they are never on our side.
Seriously. It's a story because of NPR's willingness, as a left-wing, liberal orifice if ever there was one, to put the question to a left wing, liberal black brother-in-arms.
I guess NPR thinks it is special or something
If Cosby has been on a pedestal since his shameful conduct in the Tawana Brawley hoax, then the public deserves to be thought of as stupid.
He may have, I don’t know if he did as I am unaware of those comments. The last comments I remember actually reading of his were about the social ills facing blacks and they were conservative in nature and it did not sit well with the audience or the liberals.
