To change Islam, we would have to understand why its ugliness still speaks to Muslims
Every few years the debate over reforming Islam bubbles up from the depths of a culture that largely censors any suggestion that Islam needs reforming.
But Islam does not exist apart from Muslims. It is not an abstract entity that can be changed without changing its followers. And if Islam has not changed, that is because Muslims do not want it to.
Mohammed and key figures in Islam provided a template, but that template would not endure if it did not fit the worldview of its worshipers. Western religions underwent a process of secularization to align with what many saw as modernity leading to a split between traditionalists and secularists.
The proponents of modernizing Islam assume that it didnt make the jump because of Saudi money, fundamentalist violence and regional backwardness. These allegations are true, but also incomplete.

That phrase about polishing something you can’t polish comes to mind.
1) nuke Mecca
2) send in the Christian missionaries
Repeat as necessary
Islam is Satanic. You can’t reform Satan.
Who comes up with ideas such as these?
“Reform” someone else religion which you find detestable?? Meanwhile, welcome the proliferation of same in your own country (while they would butcher you if you asked for the same in their country) and consistently excuse not just the *bad*; but murderous, savage, terroristic behavior of 1% or .1% or even .01% of them and continuously make all sorts of accomodations to folks who openly hate us?
WTF for? What’s the upside?
They’ve proven time and again they’re unwilling or incapable of playing well with others. It’s time to eradicate the threat.
As the saying goes: A radical Muslim is one who will cut off your head for believing differently. A moderate Muslim is one who wants a radical Muslim to cut off your head for believing differently.
In that context, they and the world will find that, no matter what they do, understanding and accepting who Jesus was/is will be the only way for them to escape the trap that Satan has caught them in.
There is NO other way out of the trap.
It can not be reformed - it’s fundamental tenets are evil.
That’s at the origin or source, and true.
But you can’t reform Islam because the Koran can never be changed - and it is evil at it core and throughout. Exact opposite of the Bible, the Koran is based on selfishness, pride, shame and hatred. It’s source was the depraved heart of a wicked man seeking to justify and codify his evil ways.
The true and living God is a God of mercy, grace, forgiveness and infinite kindness........but who will ultimately judge all of us, and bring his wrath on those who reject His offer of mercy and forgiveness.....what He did through His Son on the cross.......
You cannot reform Islam.
All I need to know about Islam I learned on 9/11. Muslims won’t change Islam because they don’t want it to change from the 7th century religion of conquest and rape that it is.
You can’t reform islam without rewriting the koran.
“A moderate Muslim is by definition a LAPSED Muslim”
[ Islam is Satanic. You cant reform Satan. ]
I disagree, you COULD technically reform Satan, you would have drag him from hell, Force him in a physical body and dissipate his “soul” (if he really has one) back into it, then give him a lobotomy and manually reprogram his brain using advanced cybernetic devices, but at that point what do you really gain?
The thing is he himself would never do it so the process of having to re-program him would by definition be somewhat “evil” as it would be against his will and arguably against god’s will as it would interfere with Gods plan...
The VERY first thing is for the powers that be and the population in general to start calling a spade a spade.
As long as the loyal congregation of the church of Political Correctness keep living their lives scared to death of offending the very people that want to kill them, it will never be addressed.
I don’t understand it...
Liberals will take God’s name in vain and praise Muhamed.
They praise the one that wants to kill them and curse the only one that can save them from death.
The question, therefore, is whether Islam may be treated the same way, and the answer before the advent of violent, militant Islamic extremism was yes, or at least more or less as a working compromise for societal comity. It appears that the answer is now no, if Greenfield is correct and jihad is so incorporated into its canon that it cannot be modified or extracted.
That's a pity, because it strikes at the heart of Western culture's hard-earned principle of toleration. That principle was regretfully disregarded when both Nazism and Communism went through violent subversive stages. That is now decried on the Left as an overreaction and labeled McCarthyism; I believe, on the contrary, that it was both justified and effective.
But it is no small step to declare Islam inherently, irredeemably violent and to suppress an entire religion. That activity strikes at the founding principle of toleration and freedom of worship. If it's that or bodies in the street there isn't really any ideal choice and there may not even be any good one.
I regularly post Greenfield’s blog posts. This one is at: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3218276/posts
If you would like to be included on his ping list let me know.

Islam can’t be reformed. The best we could hope for is to destroy muslims’ faith by discrediting their powerless false god; do that by blowing every muslim holy site off the map. If that fails to dissuade them, there is only one solution left.
