That's a pity, because it strikes at the heart of Western culture's hard-earned principle of toleration. That principle was regretfully disregarded when both Nazism and Communism went through violent subversive stages.
Perhaps I've misunderstood, but are you lamenting that the principle of tolerance was disregarded? Why do you regard it as regretful?

Why do you regard it as regretful? Because discarding that principle is exquisitely subject to abuse by the government, which is merrily doing precisely that at the moment with regard to the gay marriage issue and its impact on Christians who object.
