Obama fires Shinseki for incompetence; appoints Sebelius to head Veterans Administration

FR has learned exclusively that Obama will today fire VA Secretary Erick Shinseki for incompetence, and will ask former HHS hear Kathleen Sebelius to take charge of the troubled agency.

Just a few days ago, Obama had expressed confidence in Shinseki, but recent revelations of abuses at other VA facilities have led him to change his mind. And faced with a raft of other scandals, Benghazi, the IRS..and charges that no one has ever been held accountable, Obama decided it is time to project a tougher image, and sacrifice someone.

Shinseki was not given the opportunity to resign. Instead, he was told early this morning that he was being fired. Shinseki is scheduled to testify before Congress on Thursday. It's likely that Obama wanted to dump him before that hearing. It's unknown at this time if Shinseki will still be called to testify.

Obama will also announce that he has asked Kathleen Sebelius, the former HHS Secretary who was responsible for implementing Obamacare, to head the VA.

Democrats have been touting Obamacare's successes recently, and it is thus a natural pivot for the President.

He is expected to tell the nation later today that America's commitment to its veterans must be honored; they must be given the best care possible, and that he is confident that Sebelius will be able to do for veterans what she did to the American people..
