SunkenCiv, did I write this wrong or post my question in the wrong forum?

does this book cover his years as a young man? From what little I know, he had an amazing life by the time he reached his late 20s.

thanks rabidralph. And yes, that’s what I’m hoping, that the well read Freepers help me get the right books that are honest about the man’s life.

A decent read that I got from the Library once was called “His Excellency”.

They did not know how The President would be addressed, so they started with this. Washington didn’t care for it and so suggested simply “Mr. President”

Noemie Emery’s biography is excellent. She is a conservative writer and pundit who writes for the Weekly Standard and Washington Examiner, among other publications.

Although dated, the set by Douglas Southall Freeman is the standard against which all others are measured.

The Life of George Washington, Vol. 1 by John Marshall

by a man who knew him, served in the Army with him and was current with many of Washington's personal acquaintances. There are a number of other listings on Gutenberg.org, for instance, by Henry Cabot Lodge and by Washington Irving - all free.
