*** Since this column was written, Mike Houghton, the President of RARA has been let go. The Board of Directors will be taking over the day to day operations. We plan to continue coverage of the Future of Air Racing. Keep the faith, fans.

Since the Galloping Ghost crash of 2011, the Air Races have been plagued with financial concerns and rumors about closing the doors.

In the last few months, Mike Houghton, RARA President, has been talking about this year’s event being in jeopardy if $500,000 was not raised by December 15th. Just in the nick of time, we were told the event is back on. This leaves many people wondering about the long term viability – and if this will continue to be a year to year endeavor.

My latest mistake. I pictured The Honorable Janet Reno in a flight suit, standing on the wing of a low flying glider, arms raised to the sky.

Move the race (back) to Cleveland. And hold them over the lake so that on one goes into a house this time.

Make that ‘no one’ not ‘on one’.

Is that 5th photo of an apparent lunar landing an actual photo or taken from some movie?

Actual photo of Apollo 11.

Just curious, given the direction of the shadow cast by the lunar module, why isn't the astronaut cast in any shadow but instead is completely illuminated?

Given his entire back and right side is illuminated, wouldn't he be casting a shadow beyond the location of his body?

Not trying to hijack this thread, my questions are better off on a conspiracy thread................but it does make me say Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm........LOL!

Aldrin is in the shadow of the LEM. He is lit up because of solar light reflection from the moons surface.

Number one "the Lunar Landing was a Hoax" question. The answer, as given by Hattend, is that the Moon reflects light. A lot of light.

The entire lunar surface is backscattering light in all directions, illuminating Buzz Aldrin even while in the LEM's shadow.

The Moon's surface acts like a giant photographer's reflector.
