My daughter lives in Hanover and I’ve visited her several times. It’s OK, but when one is that close to Balmur and DC, one must be on one’s toes.

I used to live in Maryland. I loved it. Great place!
Except I lived in Silver Spring. And it was back in 1967.
But apart from those pesky details; I loved it. Great place!

I’m not enough of a conservative for some folks, but hey where I am liberal I am bible, theistic, liberal. Maybe Maryland needs some more gospel.

We could always use more gospel.

I'll give you my vote...after escaping from 30+ years in maryland (it isn't called THE Freak state for nothing!). Don't go there unless you hate your self. It is like "living" in an insane asylum filled with DIMs/LIBs.

I was beginning to write some heavy gospel music in Tennessee, but that is kind of like making more ice in Alaska. Doesn’t that make better sense in, say, Florida?

Well I bet Utah is a happier haven for you.
On the other hand, maybe God sends lights to where it’s dark?

Just a wild possibility right now. I might be able to still get a job in Tennessee, but it’s not exactly a high tech heaven here. Whatever the vices of the DC area, lack of affluence does not seem to be among them.

Run away! Run away!
I’m sure they probably don’t appreciate hitech rednecks in Merryland.

Well they do... in Hagerstown, at least. That’s where I dwelt for a few months.

But, living in Hagerstown is not practical for a Baltimore region job.

Anne Arundel County is nominally Republican. The Democrats have gerrymandered the crap out of our county. I actually vote in a district with the poorest parts of Prince Georges county down by DC. My section of A.A. has nothing to do with DC.
Pasadena, Md is actually filled with hi-tech rednecks. Lots of rich rednecks living on the bay, hunters, and fisherman. Like me.

What are the taxes like there?

It is affluent for the most part...your tax dollars at work. I finally decided many things are more important than a lot of $$$$.

If you have to go to the DC area for a tech job, I would suggest Virginia. Although the state is becoming more purplish lately, it is 10 times better than Md. I know I lived there for a number of years and I could not get out of Md. fast enough.

The Hanover area has a lot of high tech work for the government. Not a bad area to live in. In contrast to other Maryland counties near the DC Metro area (e.g., Montgomery & Prince Georges counties), Anne Arundel County is pretty conservative. Within AA county you there are lots of nice upscale areas with excellent schools.
The city of Annapolis, which is inside of Anne Arundel county, just elected a Republican mayor.
