Over the last four years the negative attitude of Americans toward the US Supreme Court indicates it is less respected and trusted each year.

Lost my respect a LONG time ago.
People in this country just don’t get the fact that the SC is really just a political tool to further the agenda of anti Constitutionalists. Has been for a very long time.
I started losing faith in them after the immenent domain ruling a few years ago. Now its just beyond the pale. The SCOTUS has become as corrupt as the other two branches of our govt.
Nope. It's already gone.
I still have more respect for the Supreme Court than I do for Congress (i.e., the legistative branch) which abdicated their role in the 3-branches-of-government over 20 years ago in favor of hiding behind polls, committees, special prosecutors and, of course, the Supreme Court.
Justice David Souter was mugged, robbed and beaten while jogging one night in a park somewhere in Washington, D.C. His attacker apparently had no idea who he was -- and probably didn't care, either.
I remember thinking at the time that nobody of any consequence in the U.S. government would be out jogging alone at night in one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S.
I haven’t respected the US Supreme Court since I was a kid, growing up in the 60s. It was obvious even then that judges believed they were there to create laws they liked, regardless of what the people believed. I don’t think the US Supreme Court has had any respect for the US Constitution for a hundred years or more...
This is what happens when you no longer find the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights relevant in America and make your decisions based on the laws of worthless, lawless countries around the world.
What do those men in black care as to the opinion of the America people?
They got a lifetime of full employment with nothing to worry about.
When was the last time they declared an entire department or an entire program unconstitutional? When was the last time they gutted a favorite liberal decision and stick up for the individual?
imminent domain = eminent domain
sorry, pet peeve
i’m glad dissents are still being published for posterity.
I had an eminent just last week. Stunk like heck.
I don’t trust ANYBODY in the American justice system as well as the POS Kenyan fraud who is POTUS!Guess its because I’m a “creepy assed cracker”
Roberts’ twisted reasoning for Obamacare did substantial damage to the SC. He basically negated it — the people elected them (Congress/President), so let them live with the decision the elected ones make.
Say it ain't so, Joe.
On second thought, don't bother.
Yeah, what a moving and courageous stand for individual rights in the face of the tyranny of transient majorities. Sickening. I wouldn’t shake the man’s hand if I met him.
Maybe it would be better to think of it as "nobody with any common sense" rather than "nobody of any consequence". A fair description of Souter.
I don't think he was out "jogging" in the heterosexual sense of the word...
However, he did contribute on numerous occasions to the lowering of respect and trust of the USSC among US citizens.
Pulling out of his butt, and applying an international law that the US Senate didn't ratify, for instance.
