Boston Bombing May Lead to Crackdown on Public Use of Cameras
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 27 Apr 2013 | John Semmens

Posted on 04/29/2013 11:10:02 AM PDT by John Semmens

One of the lessons the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is taking away from the Boston Marathon bombing is the “potential for phone cameras and video recorders being used to plan these kinds of attacks.”

Secretary Janet Napolitano says DHS is “looking into the inherent threat posed by unauthorized use of these devices, especially in heavily trafficked public places. Law enforcement personnel at every level need to be on alert for people deploying these devices.”

Napolitano professed to be “especially concerned that government officers in the midst of carrying out the directives of higher authorities might be intimidated by fears that their actions are being secretly recorded.”

In related news, those who want an iconic photo of President Obama observing a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the bombing should contact Democratic National Committee headquarters (ph. 202-863-8000). Chairwoman Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz urged everyone “to commemorate this tragic and historic moment by obtaining this portrait of our indomitable leader and simultaneously making a donation to help ensure that the Party has the funding needed to continue promoting its agenda.”

Without those devices, they would still be looking for the suspects, who would have carried out more bombings by now.

For the non-satire version ... Bing (not google) ‘boston: death sentence for looking out window’ ...

Seemingly they should ban races, pressure cookers, sidewalks, and Islamic jihadists, as well.

(I know it is satire.)

Although meant as satire we all know Janet Napolitano is as dumb as a board and is probably writing up the initial directive as we speak.

They are actually debating a law in Texas today to penalize police if they try and stop someone from recording them.

Can you imagine the outcry from the MSM if police told them to stop filming something.

BS, they tried to deliver at least two different sets of suspects before they were forced to implicate the moslems.

They are pissed, because they were forced to hang it on the actual perps. Look for Janet to seek a ban on public recording DHS Stormtroopers and police officials from AJ Holder.

Exactly why these people do NOT want such devices being used by the general public.

They’re kidding, right?

A thousand citizen cameras is better than one Homeland Security Division in public situations like the Boston Marathon.

OK...I see now the article is satire. But it has the potential of becoming true very, very soon under Mister Janet Napolitano.

I realize this is satire but we really shouldn't be giving the old girl (allegedly) any ideas!

I meant to post this line as well in the post above....I can really see them attempting to make some BS laws like that.

Napolitano professed to be “especially concerned that government officers in the midst of carrying out the directives of higher authorities might be intimidated by fears that their actions are being secretly recorded.”

Hey, there's no problem here! The MSM just submits all digital and/or film recordings to the Ministry of Information for review and editing and then - presto! they get approved....or squashed.

In all seriousness, the regime is probably hopping mad about having the pajamhadeen photos of al Harbi and his pals standing right next to the 2 Chechens. It really interferes with their “Lone Wolf” meme, and we wouldn't want to jeopardize the regime's pseudo-investigation.

I immediately thought of this:

http://photographyisnotacrime.com/

DHS and other federal agents DO NOT want to be photographed, especially if what they are doing is not particularly authorized by the constitution, and in fact, is distinctly prohibited by the constitution.

This is not because such incriminating photographs, even of them committing blatant criminal acts, will ever result in them being prosecuted for those acts, especially with the current regime clinging to power; but it will be an unpleasant “public relations” gaffe that will make the official White House propagandist uncomfortable while denying it ever took place, and accusing those who mentioned it of being anti-American, in some bizarro world sort of way.

And, if you even think of ascribing *any* legitimacy to this at all, let me remind you that the *first* thing that is done in such terrorist attacks, as was done in Boston, is to shut down the cell phone towers in the area. So detonating any further bombs with cell phones is not a real problem.

What is, is using those cell phones other feature: photography. Which is *specifically* what they want to discourage.
