Don't Webb's words pretty much sum up what the Obama administration and the progressive left is all about? Aren't these same views on Southern rednecks also . . .

Just helping so no one has to click thru to your blog to read your few lines....

Full article:

What Happened To Former Virginia Senator James Webb?
“The culture so dramatically symbolized by the Southern redneck [is] the greatest inhibitor of the plans of the activist Left and the cultural Marxists for a new kind of society altogether.” So wrote former Virginia Senator James Webb in Born Fighting.

And

“And for the last fifty years the Left has been doing everything in its power to sue them, legislate against their interests, mock them in the media, isolate them as idiosyncratic, and publicly humiliate their traditions in order to make them, at best, irrelevant to America’s future growth.”

Webb’s definition of “rednecks”: “. . . “obstacle to the collectivist taming of America, symbolized by the edicts of political correctness.”

Don’t Webb’s words pretty much sum up what the Obama administration and the progressive left is all about? Aren’t these same views on Southern rednecks also thinly (and sometimes not so much) veiled in the blog posts and writing of many academic and “professional” historians? Absolutely.

Did James Webb refuse to run again so he could search for his lost soul? Let’s hope so.

Isn’t James Webb Lyndon Johnson’s son-in-law?

I think Webb like most honorable men just could not take any more of the hypocrisy and corruption that is Washington D.C.

I believe I saw webb sitting under a viaduct in rural VA holding some kind of “I a Viet Nam vet...all help is appreciated” sign. webb is a freak and is certainly a lib subhuman.

Honorable?

Like when he let a friend take a fall for carrying Webb’s gun into the capitol building?

Webb should have stuck to books and movies. He serve honorably in the military and Ronald Reagan’s administration. God bless him!!!

I read Born Fighting last year and thought it was a great book. And with every chapter I read, I scratched my head and asked “How could this guy be a Democrat?” Was he lying when he wrote it or is he lying now? He seemed to be writing from his soul about his roots so I had to conclude he was just another example of a conservative who went to DC and “evolved.” It’s a shame.

It was probably that smear (photo) about him and his young son that put him over the edge.

Also, he was part of the scheme to get a majority in the house by running and electing moderate to conservative candidates in districts they knew liberals couldn't win. Now I'm guessing, but when he got there he found out all the promises made were just to get Dems a majority and they (liberals in charge) could care less what he actually thought. “Shut up and vote as I tell you to”. He had been had by his own party.

“If you can't beat ‘em, join ‘em”, or QUIT. He quit.

What happened to Webb is that he started to believe his own political publicity. I have always been under the impression that he is one taco short of a combination plate, and that someone else was managing him and his political career.

My exact thoughts. Whatever anyone thinks of his politics, he sure can write. I hope he authors something else.

Not bad for a native Californian. Virginia has been invaded by progressives from other states, especially Senator Warner and Representative Moran. Virginia’s forefathers must be rolling in their graves, distraught over what has happened to their state for which they risked and gave so much. Of course much of this has been aided by the educational system which ignores the Constitution and Bill of Rights in an attempt to make us all the same, mindless drones dependent on the government. If anyone ever needs a revival, it’s America.
