"GM sold 23,461 Volts in 2012 compared with just 7,671 in 2011. While it's an impressive jump, the Volt is still one of Chevy's lowest-selling cars. However, the Volt greatly outdid the Corvette, for instance, of which only 14,000 were sold last year.
Its 2012 sales also put the Volt well ahead of its nearest competitor, the Nissan Leaf. Nissan sold about 9,800 Leafs in 2012, an increase of just 1.5% over 2011. Still, Nissan pointed out, it was a record year for Leaf sales."

That is abysmal. The Corvette is an expensive, specialty two passenger car with a very limited market. The Leaf is an electric only car, which means once you're out of juice, you're stranded. The Volt is a hybrid with a gas engine in addition to the electric drive. Apples and oranges.
This idiot writer is clueless! She claims that Sarah never owned a business when she and her husband owned a commercial fishing company and also an ATV dealership and mechanic shop too
If the 23,461 Volts sold where purchased my the govmint?
How many of the Volts were mandated agency buys by the U.S. government?
Just because your dead beat Cousin is an American doesn't make him immune from criticism.
That is what these car companies are like, your 19 year old cousin who moved in with you and blowing your parents money while laughing all the way to buy some more weed from China.
Let these electronic wonders sell or die on their own in the free market. Let the chips fall where they may.
Lumping Tesla-Solyndra-GM as loans is like lumping illegal immigrants with immigrants.
It allows writer to step back and generalize rather than address the specifics.
Shame on him.
I’ve tried to do some searches to find out how many Chevy Volts the government has been buying, but it would seem that this information is being hidden under a rock.
I can get reports of some particular sales, or promises of sales, but the details are scanty and sometimes speculative. And the news sources seem to be entirely blogs and individuals—not the news media or the automotive magazines. They’ve obviously put a lid on this and have persuaded all the news media to hide the numbers or, presumably, face the consequences.
She’s a former half-term governor. That’s funny.
Leftists just can’t stand it when their messiah is called out for the abysmal failure that he is..so they use terms like “Half Term Governor” I have some terms that I can use to describe Obama..how about COMMUNIST PRICK..I have others but I can’t use that kind of language online
Ed. Note: This article originally said that Sarah Palin has never owned her own business. That is incorrect.
GO Sarah!
bump
But Chevy made money, LOTS OF MONEY on those 14000 vettes..
They LOST money on every one of those Volts.
You can’t make it up on volume when you loose money on every one of them. It is NOT in chevy’s best interests to sell volts at a loss. or to tell them at all really.
-— She showed additional contempt for hybrid electric cars by slamming General Motors’ Volt, which tripled its sales in 2012, per CNN.com. ——
The media is all in, aren’t they? They’re going down with the ship. That’s fine with me.
Bump!
:D
GM just extended its employees’ new car discount to nieces and nephews.
Next, ‘Cousin Eddie’? “That’s right friend—279 mpg. And it runs on H2O.”
How do you like them apples, Karl Rove?
Sarah is quite right.
I bought 2007 basic Dodge Ram ST 1500 plain Jane crew cab new for 17500
List was almost 20000
Right now I am looking around
Same truck list is 32000 and can be had for maybe 28000
Why is this?
Inflation has been quite modest
The real losers are the people who bought that POS Fisker.
When it needs servicing and there are no parts or skilled labor to repair it, theh’ll be handed a a hefty bill for hazardous waste removal...
hybred and electric cars should be made illegal and the people that drive them arrested!
