Besides, who owns the job? The employer owns the job, not the employee.

who owns the labor needed to do that job?

The laborer can sell his services to the highest bidder, it’s a free agent nation. Now the laborer must plan carefully and make sure there is a good market for his skills, and constantly be working to add to his skill set....you cannot make a good living just doing the same thing year after year, those days are long gone.

You are an idiot. You still did not address the issue of what numbers to use. Obviously your love affair with communism has addled yur brain

Obviously you can't read because I've said twice now that I've been talking about the numbers Papa John has been using. Not sure what's so hard to understand about that. :dunno:

Obviously, but what makes a High school/extra money job for most a “sub par” job?

Surely, you know that Papa John’s is a “gateway/entry level” job?

Workman’s comp for injuries could apply, but full health care benefits?

It would be the same type of job as a newspaper route.

Should that also have 100% medical at the cost of the newspaper or the government?

Really?

Some agents are freer than others. Many low-wage workers get stuck doing the worst jobs for the lowest pay because of their circumstances. Not all people stuck in low-wage jobs are shiftless losers like many on here would seem to want to classify them as. I would like to see workers empowered so that the negotiating table between them and employers is equalized somewhat because right now the employers hold all of the cards when it comes to negotiating wages. Low wage workers negotiate nothing. They have to take what the employer offers with no real opportunity to bargain.

Now the laborer must plan carefully and make sure there is a good market for his skills, and constantly be working to add to his skill set....you cannot make a good living just doing the same thing year after year, those days are long gone.

I agree.

Yeah but then we’d have to give them all Obama phones, unempoleyment, etc...

I am amazed that this is happening, A job you get during High School is now making National News?

Are there really 10’s of people who can’t make ends meet if they do not have a “Papa John’s” type of job.

Methinks the writer doest protest too much.

Get the government out of business and you will see a change.

More government = more bread lines. Get used to it.

On a gateway/high school job?

You do realize that if these people hate Papa John’s so much they could go to work at...well I don’t know... McDonald’s or Taco bell?

No one has chained them to their respective Papa John’s locations.

Heck, I worked my but off as a dishwasher just to pay for gas to get to work.

The USAF was my out. I stayed out of trouble and scored high enough for a very high quality education. Those opportunities still exist.

Obviously, but what makes a High school/extra money job for most a “sub par” job?

I think we got moved into a tangent of the what I meant to be discussing. So I'm going to concede that if the job is one mainly for high school kids or people looking for a little extra money than it is not sub-par.

Surely, you know that Papa John’s is a “gateway/entry level” job?

I do and I think I got myself sidetracked.

Workman’s comp for injuries could apply, but full health care benefits?

For the teenager still on mom and dad's policy and the extra-money worker who has insurance through his other job or through his spouse's job then no. But if Papa John's is your main job and it is through the workplace that the majority of people are expected to get their health insurance from than yes.

It would be the same type of job as a newspaper route.

I don't think those are equivalent. I mean you have store workers as well as delivery people at papa johns.

Should that also have 100% medical at the cost of the newspaper or the government?

Really?

Since I think single-payer is the most equitable kind of healthcare environment than I'd have to say yeah.

Then, you will concede that it is not “Papa John’s” or industries like that, as your main focus?

If there is a long-term “Papa John’s” employee that is not a short-term/part time hire, high school type is that what you are concerned with?

Interesting, because my take on what “Papa John’s” statement was that the part time employees would end up getting shorter hours due to the Health care law, but I heard nothing about their mid level district managers, etc, did you?

And if that is your fear, can you show us where that was stated?

Do you know of several (or any, for that matter) long term, full time “Papa John’s” employee’s who do this “for a living” are in fear of losing their health insurance?

My guess is that it is not going to be the case. No more that it would be for the McDonald’s worker, the Pizza Hut worker, the Burger King worker, the New York Times delivery driver, etc...

Absolutely. several of the “side jobs” I took as a youth (up into my 30’s) did not offer health care and I was under no illusion that they should do so.

What in the hell are you talking about?

Rambling about health care being some “right” that I must pay for is idiotic. I guess I can “pay” for the right to everything else I want as well.

Get a grip.

So I take it that by saying:

“Since I think single-payer is the most equitable kind of healthcare environment than I’d have to say yeah.”

do you feel that Health Care is a “Right”?

I want a new pistol and shotgun. Those rights are explicitly assured in the Bill of RIGHTS!

I want you to pay for it.

What “ksen” doesn’t realize is how Health Insurance started in the USA.
I know thatyou do.
It was a way for companies, during WWII, to hire better employees.
There was a wage freeze, so if you wanted to hire someone from another company to help you make better Jeeps, or B-17’s, you had to pay them the same wages, so to hire them, you inticed them with, insurance, company cars, vacations, etc...
It has always been a “perk”, not a “right”.

Yes, and I thank you for stating this to the unwashed masses.

Granny Clampett was the “Doctor” in the day. It was a perk and thus the insurance industry was born. If liberals are wanting group think on “Rights” they owe me the .22 Mosquito that I want. It is a “Right”.

Amen to that.

I prefer my Ruger Blackhawk’s. Single action but still one of the most accurate firearms I’ve ever owned.

It’s darn near 3 am here and I’ve got to go to bed. I need to wake up in time to watch my Houston Texans.

God Bless Y’all.
