Top Iowa Conservative: The Republican Civil War has already started

"He [Romney] killed us all over the country. Look at [same-sex] marriage. We've never lost the issue before, until it shared a ballot with Romney then we lost it four times on one day. Heck, we even won marriage in California on Election Day 2008 for goodness sake.

There will never be another establishment candidate like that. Jeb Bush, Chris Christie...those people will never happen. Heck, I think Christie will be driven out of the GOP and be the next Charlie Crist. Mitt just killed Republicans in my home state. People are angry, especially because Matt Drudge and Karl Rove told us it was all in the bag all along, after they got done smearing conservatives in the primary and dumping on Todd Akin.

It's on like Donkey Kong."

For this reason it is not a good idea to pick the losers from last time.

George Allen? Mr. Allen, Mr. Allen, please pick up the white courtesy phone...

Those all sound like excellent ideas.

I think the Tea Party should implement them. I’ve all but given up on the Republican Party. They don’t seem interested in winning elections or promoting conservative principles. They only seem interested in perpetuating the status of the party elite.

In Indiana, Mourdock blew it for himself. I hated Lugar, but Mourdock was a very unattractive candidate in many ways, who was ahead until he opened his big mouth. I believe he beat Lugar by a large margin with dem crossover help in the primaries. He still may have won the primary, but not by such a large margin.

He especially made me angry because he failed to learn from the blunder of Todd Akin a few weeks before.

He would have won on the Romney/Pence coattails if he would have prepared himself properly for the race.

I also think he ran a good race and worked hard. I don’t think we are going to be able to win the top spot because the integrity of the process has been polluted by the other side.

This civil war has been going on for a long time. Reagan managed to win it because he was a guy who lost the first time and put together a machine to run the second time and win. Romney put together a machine too, but we have different voting techniques now. The prep has to begin long before a primary season.

If conservatives want to win, we are going to have to put better type candidates on tickets than Akin’s and Mourdocks. In the primaries, none of the presidential candidates besides Romney had an ounce of the needed backing and preparation to even try to win.

So, you didn’t read it. One paragraph. Yet, you commented on it.

On this point you have it exactly wrong. The fiscon issues are the big ones.
***Was W a fiscon? No, but he got elected. Was Romney a fiscon? Yes, and he didn’t get elected. You have it exactly wrong. And, this is a socon site.

Nope. it’s a base the Republicans should be able to count on if they would quit nominating blue bloods. Romney being a member of a cult hurt also.

And, this is a socon site.

Really?

"Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America."

That's me. Been here almost as long as you have kev, and I don't need your self-righteous indignation. There are plenty of socons around here, true, but if there isn't room for independent, grass-roots conservatism of the fiscon variety, JimRob ought to fix the masthead.

JV:
Really?
***Yes, really. From the same article you quoted, here’s how JimRob says it. Note that he doesn’t bring up fiscon issues first, he brings up socon issues first.

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. .... We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity.

***Would you characterize Romney as a socon? As a fiscon? Why is it that JimRob had a Romneytruthfile on the ‘masthead’ for so long? And he said for months that he wouldn’t endorse a “lying, baby-killing, gun-grabbing statist” until he reluctantly endorsed him, saying “damn Romney” when he did. There is plenty of “independent, grass-roots conservatism of the fiscon variety” welcomed, but not if it is at the expense of the socon variety. Such CINOs have ruined conservatism and the GOP. So are you a fiscon who is anti-socon? If so, what are you doing here?

WOW!!!!

pretty general statement..

why not expand a little bit, and then we can have a discussion, and you will see how close to conservatives we really are..

unless, of course, you have made up your mind with little to no facts, just opinion...

my first question to you is, since you are morally superior to me (since you stated we hate everything moral) please let me know what moral stance you are talking about, and it’s relativeness to the constitution as written....

The Republican party keeps nominating old white garbage like Dole, McLame and Romney, and they’ll Never win.

Relevance to the Constitution?

You do realize my comment was comparing liberaltarian perverts and traditional conservatism, right?

You are already trying to change the topic.

Anti-Christian Liberaltarian haterz and conservative Christians have nothing in common. Nada.

Times, they are a changing.

Thanks to public schools. We know the enemy, we can take steps, but we won't do it. Pull your children out of public schools, cut the cable, avoid movies, return to paper ballots, and get rid of machines and early voting.

Most important of all; turn back to G-d.

That is what we get for allowing the media to manipulate us. I'm not media, but I was the only person I met (on the net or in person) that called Red Hampshire for Obama. The same applies for calling the state for Kuster, Hassan, and Shea-Porter. The signs were all there, but all the 'experts' ignored them.

I had to quit a forum full of libertarians because of their giddy jubilation after the election. They weren’t saying dumb things like Romney lost because Christians wouldn’t vote for him, lol, they were saying Romney lost because he sounded Christian.

Christians are just “shiite witch burning bible thumpers”.. I guess the 100 million or so slaughtered by athiests in the last century didn’t bother at all, of course.

They love homo marriage, abortion, want to decriminalize kiddie porn and all drugs and yes, I know that sooner or later they will admit the age of consent has to go. “Because there is nothing about that in the Constitution”

Libertarians seem to have lost the concept of the difference between liberty and license

Yes, that makes them perverts, inhuman too.

Libertarians hate my beliefs with a passion. I am just returning the favor.
