“...the one with the line “the lunatics are on the grass” (I’m blanking on the title)”

Me too on the title. But the greatest line from that song is “the lunatics are in my hall/the lunatics are in my hall/the paper holds their folded faces to the floor/and every day the paper boy brings more”

A great comment on all politicians, that’s my take at least.

Floyd RULES. I also love “shine on you crazy diamond” it’s my song for my best friend, even though she doesn’t like Pink Floyd.

“I would really freak people out if I listed my 100 favorite classical albums ... LOL!”

Go for it, just remember to ping Evening Star.

Hubby and I are now waking up to classical music every morning and it is wonderful.

It’s been a tough few years, finding a radio station to wake up to. After the suits broke up Curtis (sliwa) and (ron) Kuby, it was very difficult.

Hubby likes WFUV the Fordham U. NPR station that plays Americana music, but they just lull me back to sleep, it was really a problem, not waking up!

So, I said that has to go and we bounced around. There was a pretty good Rock station, but it didn’t last long. Then I had the Jersey news station on, but hubby hated that.

Finally I found (re-found) the grand old NY Times station WQXR that the Times abandoned, it is now high up on the dial, but it comes in good here. The music is lively, there are no ads, and I grew up on that station, my father wouldn’t have anything else on the radio. So it makes me feel all sorts of secure.

I do still miss some of the features they used to have, there was always a great report on advertising, etc.

But we are getting into classical again, it’s very good. And we are getting out of the bed and into work, which is essential if you are part of the 53%!

2112! Yeah! I’m so happy to see more and more rock n roll FRepper posts over the years. I wonder if Joe Perry is a lurker...?

No Black Sabbath on his list though...
And no They Might Be Giants. Their album Flood is legendary.
And no Nina Simone or any blues on the list...

Anyway, I’m a huge Rush fan, so wanted to say hello and add my two bits.

Okay, I read your post and the last song on Dark Side of the Moon popped into my mind, the one with the line “the lunatics are on the grass” (I’m blanking on the title). And I am now humming it. Do I win a prize?

Exact same song I hummed when I saw the post! weird..

Liked this list...as you included many excellent commercial big sellers...along with a few albums that I am not familiar with

You ranked a few Hall & Oates albums high....good to see they get some respect that has been due for awhile. Of course, that new “Live From Daryl’s House” has really help Hall & Oates critical acclaim

Although...the Beatles “White Album”....not sure if you got the album there...or left it blank...LOL my failing eyesight

Dude, I don’t know how many artists I’ve heard answer the question “What’s your favorite album?” by saying: “The next one!” !

Music, art are alive. By creating a list (and I admit, I’m listophobic) you lock yourself in the past!

My favorite albums are the next albums by New Country Rehab, Eilen Jewell, the Gourds, POkey La Farge, Deadman, and many other Americana (and not only) artists.

There’s quite a bit of non-mainstream stuff on my list. I’ve heard “Trout Mask Replica,” but I just happen not to like it.

You have a lot of good ones for sure. All I can imagine is there must be deep Loverboy album cuts or something beyond what the general nonLoverboy conversant person would have been exposed to?

Check out "Take Me To The Top" from their "Get Lucky" album:

As I said, I think you’re brave to expose yourself to all kinds of criticisms with a personal list that is upside down the stupid lists of Rolling Stone mag editors and readers.

As for Capt. Beefheart, I’d never put him on top of a list, I was just making a point about my wish to see an entirely unconventional list. Oh, well.

I liked it. I bet the intro would sound awesome on a good system.

Here’s some 70’s Scorpions. They cheesed out in the mid 80s but the 70’s stuff is cool, which is a shame because most folks only know them from the 80s on. 1975’s “In Trance.’
