Rebels Displaying Trophy Corpses of Gaddafis they Just Executed in Captivity...

And in a butcher shop (!)

What's up next, string 'em from a bridge...?

They were screaming "Allahu Akbar" when they finished him offjust like Al Qaeda does it, how bout that.
While we still do not know who the rebels we just boosted to power actually are (yet plenty of reason to suspect the worst- i.e. packed with AQ and Muslim Brotherhood types), hey, we're about to find out.

Alas, so far-so bad, as they're already committing war crimes, up to and including summary executions... which appears to be just what happened to ole Muammar and out-of-luck son Mutassim. The UN and ICC suspect as much, as both were shown alive on film in captivity, only to die of multiple gunshot wounds soon afterward while while the country's new NTC 'leadership' releases myriad B.S. accounts of what actually happened. Already there are calls for an investigation before Clown Boy swims with the fishes.

Yet while they don't mind shooting prisoners, the rag-tag rebel force is no army- they didn't have to be with NATO warplanes taking it to the regime while they swept-in afterwards and shot anything still moving... which is precisely what happened in the capture and subsequent illegal  murder of Muammar Gaddafi.

What is Obama planning to do when they start lining up 'collaborators' against the wall over there? How many Blue helmets is the UN going to be willing to send in with the place swimming in guns?

Instead of bringing desperately needed security in the wake of the regime's collapse -even if they were able- the masses of armed, now experienced and adrenalin-fueled men currently roaming the country sporting ammo belts like Rambo will likely stress along the same tribal/clan/ethnic lines that are about bring chaos to most of Libya.  And not only does the rebel 'army' not have the capability to control the country, the only thing unifying these men -hatred of the Gaddafi regime- is gone, so now it's back to 'me, mine, and the tribe'... just watch.

Yeah, I did read that. Sounds again, just like what happened with Czar Nicholas........ordered killed by the Commie party after being held captive. Still a lot different than what happened with Qaddafi......Qaddafi was just murdered by the mob that found him.

Summary executions on the battlefield would have reduced the need for a GTMO and assured that the terrorists in question could not be released to strike again.

A living, escaped KQGHadaffi could have hired a mercenary force to take back Libya. Dead, he can’t do it. Even though there were no good guys in that conflict, the winners did the right thing.

Well, he reaped what he sowed.

BTW, another prototype for how ol’ Mo just died was the “trial” and execution of Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife, Elena. They were the tin-pot commie despots of Romania until ‘89.

The people rose up, the military rose with them, and the Ceausescu’s were given a trial that lasted all of about 20 minutes, I guess, with Nicolae refusing to answer any questions, much less recognize the authority of the court. After that little dog-n-pony show (which was broadcast like radio theatre), they were taken away, their hands bound behind their backs, they were taken outside, stood up against a stone walled and guns down by three men with AK-47’s, then covered with tarps.

Yeah, I recall that. And at one point I spoke with a military officer from Romania who was embarrassed about it.

personally i see no great difference between Partisans or Freedom Fighters/mob capturing their dictator and killing him out of hand then putting him on display...

then again, i couldn't care less in either case but that's just me, and if that makes me bad, so be it

They might be embarrassed now, but back then, the people were tired of starvation and living under the thumb of a couple of people who were madder than hatters.

There are still hard-line commie loyalists today who were making up conspiracy theory stories that they (the Ceausescus) were not shot, that they had fled the country somehow and were still living. Let’s put aside the fact that they’d be in their 90’s now, let’s just deal with the conspiracy theories.

The issue got so bad that the authorities in Romania exhumed the bodies, took DNA samples and tested them against the only known living son:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/11/03/AR2010110301858.html

Thugs and tyrants should receive this sort of end. It is the only thing that gets through their thick skulls. It would be better yet if their bodies were torn apart and hung from lamposts, but hey, we can’t have everything.

When “international law” prevails and these sorts of thugs get to die in their beds at a ripe old age (as did Pol Pot, responsible for over a million executions and deaths in Cambodia), it sends a very wrong message to these types of people.

well, if you are trying to establish legitimacy as a new government, you want to have institutions that function properly, not gangs. they should have tried him.

my guess is, there was nobody around representing any part of the government that had any say in what went on when it happened

they are rarely at the sharp end of the stick...

You’re going to need to see past the current situation and think about the wonderful future ability to shut down things like French carping about how we conduct wars in the future.

In the future, when the French start acting, well, *French* when we’re in some international op, we can point back at this administration and say “We’re not doing anything different than the President upon whom you conferred the Nobel Peace Prize when he was in office the first month. We’re merely following his example...”

and the Euro-weenies will have to STFU.

I view these sorts of developments with an eye to the long game. In the long game, they’re absolutely wonderful developments, because we will be able to so successfully shut down any bellyaching by European pecksniffs in the future when:

1. We enter a country with spec-ops troops, without declaring war, assault a private residence and shoot occupants inside in cold blood and leave without so much as a “hi” or “goodbye!”

2. Bomb other countries without declaring war or even registering a complaint in the UN. This includes zapping people we don’t like with missiles from the air.

3. We back a violent revolution (eg, like this one in Libya) that displaces someone who gets in the way of delivering oil.

4. We conservatives protest that a Republican POTUS didn’t do any of these things (because we might not need to) and yet, he wasn’t awarded the Peace Prize.

This episode of four years of “wise diplomacy” will yield guffaws and yuks for decades to come.

You are probably right.

Secondly, the new “government” is a gang of murderers and thieves who will have no more interest in the good of all than the previous regime.

What, this is a new form of elections? why haven’t there been elections in the Arab “spring”?

Nice blog...humblegunner may forgive you

I'm ambivalent on this...the terror he foisted on his people for decades can lead to this sort of thing.

My fear is that these “rebels” will be worse...especially worse than he was since Bush declared the War on Terror

Time had passed him by much like it had the Red Army, Baader Meinhoff, Black September, Habash and Haddad and all that other radicalism he fostered and sheltered from the late early 70s on.

He shoulda just fled with what money he could put together and go to Caracas or wherever. Tough old nut.

We have only crossed into these barbarity times on occasion...not as a matter of course...Indian Wars..both sides, WBTS..both sides...especially in border states..and Sherman's March/Grant's total war never was very much applauded where I come from though Yankees adore it, some heavy handed stuff in our myriad tropical adventures and even in the World Wars here and there but not as routine military behavior

but summary executions and dismemberment and mass graves...Sand Creek maybe?...Seven Years War reprisals...very very rare for us

in fact for English Speaking peoples it's been rare since say Culloden with maybe a relapse with Boer internment camps in which unlike our Jap camps women and kids did die and in large numbers

and that is what makes us better than most folks in my view..to remain rational and human when we can behave otherwise with impunity

but one could also argue Mohammar sure had it coming

anyhow...no doubt in my mind just looking at these rebels...it ain't over...they will soon fight each other...and whoever wins could likely be worse and will without a doubt be more Islamist than Gaddafi

one last part of my rant...if it ever comes to a shooting war here..I can promise anyone...it will be far worse than anything we have witnessed before..it has the potential given the numbers and collateral players like China and others to be cataclysmic for the all human race on a scale not seen since plagues and famines half a millennium ago..once these things start they are hard to put back in the bottle and we have so many folks nowadays ..300 million and sharpest divisons in every facet I have ever seen in half century

just heard a .410 report outside and Wade comes in with his first squirrel..lol...mom will love me prepping it up in the kitchen..lol..he is so proud..I fear our squirrel population on our land is going to take a nosedive

Thanks WD

I agree with you on Libya, could get a lot worse

And Gaddafi WAS a tough old nut- fighting to the death like that, he could have lived like a king in Caracas- and why SIRTE? It’s collapse was inevitable, I really don’t get what he was thinking there. If he was going to stay in the country the desert was the only way to go, maybe he wanted to get it over with

And HEY... a .410 was my first gun, too

Can you spell “Islamic Caliphate”? Out of the newly abandoned Iraq, Iran will step in and declare Sharia Law.

Perhaps even the region will be combined and ruled by Al Sadr, or some other fundamentalist Cleric. This was the plan all along, to take down the Secular rulers and replace them with the Sharia Imams.

The Media is promoting "mass-Grave" finds while the Mass graves are re-filled.

I wonder how Zero could be proud of this?

I remember the LEFT holding the RIGHT to a whole different standard.

When did the MSM allow the goal posts to be changed, and Why?

I am only lukewarm on Cain at this point, but I was just telling a friend that if he took on BOLTON as VP... that would probably do it for me

This country really needs John Bolton in a position of power and influence... ASAP

It is quite sad that in this day and age, great men of courage and vision are scourned, ridiculed and destroyed.

The World is asking for another Hitler/Stalin like disaster to become a reality.
