Former CEO and Federal Reserve Governor Herman Cain has been surging the last several weeks. The conservative leader has pushed into second place, tying with Texas Governor Rick Perry. He's received a lot of media coverage lately and was interviewed on the Tonight Show last week.
Cain has also been impressive in individual states. Cain's name recognition is rising, along with his popularity. His message of fiscal prudence and the 9-9-9 tax plan are welcomed by many.
Cain's candidacy is combining fiscal and social conservatives and his remarks supporting Israel will draw in national security hawks. In polling released today, Cain is storming the states.
Take first the most likely pro-Cain state, Georgia, his home.
Cain: 41% Gingrich: 17% Romney 10% Perry 9% Paul 5% Bachmann 1% Huntsman 1%

I am so glad that Herman Cain was never elected to a public office so I cannot judge him on his policies or actions. I only care about his RED MEAT rhetoric and his TOUGH TALK and those are the most qualifying factors for someone running for President. Tough talk, tough talk, and more tough talk, please.

Herman Cain grew up in Atlanta, Georgia with loving parents and little else. His father worked three jobsas a janitor, a barber and a chauffeurand his mother was a domestic worker. Even though these jobs required hard work and little glamour, his parents knew this life was better than the dirt farms upon which they grew up. They also knew that this hard work was the key to achieving their American Dreams.
Hermans parents had two dreams. First, they wanted to own their own house. Secondly, they wanted both of their children to graduate from college. During the segregation era in the Deep South, these aspirations might have seemed lofty, but they knew that if they kept their faith in God, faith in themselves and faith in the greatest country on the Earth, they could achieve.
The first dream was realized in a modest brick house on Albert Street in Atlanta, Georgia. After years of saving from his many jobs, Hermans father surprised the whole family, even his wife, by purchasing a home for their family. The second dream was realized when Herman graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in mathematics in 1967. His brother, Thurman, would go on to graduate from Morris Brown College.
Inspired by the work ethic and character of his parents, Herman continued his education by earning his Masters degree in computer science from Purdue University while working full-time developing fire control systems for ships and fighter planes for the Department of the Navy. Though Herman enjoyed using his talents as a civilian employee for the Navy, he gravitated towards the culture of business.
Herman returned to his home of Atlanta to begin working as a computer systems analyst for the Coca-Cola Company. After considerable success at Coca-Cola, he moved to the Pillsbury Company. Within a short period of time, Herman rose to position of Vice President. Although the comforts of a corner office on the 31st floor of a majestic corporate building seemed satisfying, Herman knew that he needed a challenge.
He became the regional vice president of Pillsburys Burger King division. This meant starting from the ground up, dodging grease fires and broiling hamburgers. Herman was assigned to lead a low performing region of 450 of their restaurants. Within three years, it became the best performing region in the company.
Energized by overcoming the many obstacles of his job at Burger King, Herman took on the biggest challenge of his career. He accepted the call to become the President and CEO of Godfathers Pizza, a company that was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. In just 14 months, Herman returned Godfathers to profitability and he led his management team to a buyout of the company.
His professional successes garnered the respect and admiration of industry peers who named him the President of the National Restaurant Association. Under Hermans administration, the group grew significantly and began to lobby for the interests of Americas restaurateurs and small business owners.
In 1994, as head of the National Restaurant Association, he had the opportunity to speak with President Clinton during a nationally televised town hall meeting. Here, Herman challenged the President regarding the impact on businesses if his health care overhaul proposal were passed. President Clinton attempted to assure him and the millions of viewers watching at home that his legislation would not harm American business owners and their employees.
Herman was skeptical. Quite honestly Mr. President, your calculations are incorrect, he said. In the competitive marketplace, it simply doesnt work that way. His words echoed across America, and Newsweek named Herman Cain the primary saboteur of Hillarycare.
Through these and other appearances on behalf of the National Restaurant Association, Herman began working with business leaders across all sectors of the American economy. This led to his acceptance of a position on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and he was subsequently elected their chairman. In this role, he analyzed economic conditions in the region and notified the Federal Reserve of how their policies should respond.
Most recently, he hosted a radio talk show, The Herman Cain Show, on Atlantas WSB 750 AM/ 95.5 FM. He serves as a regular contributor on several broadcast networks and as a keynote speaker at conferences and events around the nation.
Despite the many professional commitments of his life, Herman continues to enjoy most the time spent with family and friends. As his children got married and had their own children, he knew that he had an extraordinary obligation to do what he could to make this a safe and prosperous nation for them. The paramount joys in his life are his wife, Gloria, his children and his grandchildren.
Now I highlighted and underline Herman's working at the Fed to meet a promise that I made to many of the Paulist on FR. Herman was not a member of the Board of Governors which sets monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is more or less a bank for banks and what they do is provide financial services to depository institutions including banks, credit unions, and savings and loans, much like those that banks provide for their customers. These services include collecting checks, electronically transferring funds, and distributing and receiving cash and coin.
I know that sounds so very ominous.

The states are GA, WV, NC and NE.
Presumably if we were to do this poll for other states at this time, they would rack up about 35 for Mitt and 20 for Perry. 1 For Bachmann (MN).
So he’s getting there, but still has a long way to go to catch Mitt and Perry.

In nearby North Carolina, Cain has also surged to the top. Public Policy Polling (which tends to lean left, did three state polls):
Cain 27%
Gingrich 17%
Romney 17%
Perry 15%
Paul 6%
Bachmann 6%
Huntsman 2%
Santorum 2%
And in Nebraska he also holds a double-digit lead:
Cain 30%
Gingrich 16%
Romney 13%
Perry 10%
Bachmann 10%
Paul 5%
Santorum 4%
Huntsman 2%
In West Virginia, Cain holds a smaller lead, but is still on top:
Cain 24%
Gingrich 18%
Romney 16%
Perry 15%
Bachmann 8%
Paul 6%
Santorum 3%
Huntsman 1

He couldn't win a senate race in his home state. He blew a simple question on Israel months ago which hurt him, and the "brainwashed" and N_head episodes hurt him recently.
Inexperience will bring him down, again, if the spotlight continues to shine on him. Then it's on to the next not-Romney.

You’re wasting your time.
Most Paulista’s (not folks from SP, Brasil :), will vote for the Jew hating 911 truther as 3rd party or write-in no matter what you say.
See, while a stopped clock is right twice a day, Ron Paul is a clock running wild. He’s right more often, but you can’t trust him to tell you the correct time of day.
To: Brookhaven
Educated guess. Pure conjecture at this point, because I don’t have the data.
I’m guessing that Perry at present leads:
TX, NM, AZ, CO, OK,
KA, AK, LA, MO, KY,
TN, MS, AL, FL, WY,
ID, MT, ND, SD, IN
Romney, likely everything else at this point.
For sure we know that Cain is ahead in 4 states. He may be ahead in more, but for now I’m going to be pessimistic in that estimate until we do have numbers in his favor.

If my supposition is correct, and despite being even on the national poll with Perry with only 4 states then it is likely that Cain is second in all, or almost all of the Romney states, and may be second in all the Perry states as well.
So we shall see as more polls come out. NE is a pleasant surprise, and shows that Cain isn’t limited to the south or border states, and is getting solid support in the midwest.

Its time for phoney conservative candidates to step aside so we can now concentrate on electing a real outsider conservative. One who is willing to take on the establishment types and corporate elitists.
Perry, Huntsman and a few others It’s time to step down and stop your campaigns.
The real enemy is Romney. Conservatives can fight together and bring him down.

Is it about the goose bump now? How about the thrill in the leg? Do you folks think this is a game? Didnt we already learn what do we get when someone is elected based on goose bumps and thrill in the legs?

Romney isn’t even polling second. That’s not good news for him. Shows that Cain is gaining. Romney still has a significant lead at this point in terms of states, but Cain is catching up. As for ‘flavor of the month’, Cain’s been rising steadily in the polls. He was second before Perry entered (passing Bachmann), and has now passed Perry to regain his spot in second. So it seems to me that if your candidate isn’t Romney then Cain is your man.

Well they were accusing me of not exposing Cain for working for the Fed. The other thing is that by posting this right up front I cut the legs out from under them from trying to make something ugly out of it.

If Perry and Romney are behind in states like NC, GA, WV, and NE, then then numbers are probably more like this:
30 for Cain, 20 for Mitt, 4 for Perry, and 1 for Bachmann.
