one of the things missing from the “hope & change” administration is optimism.

the belief that America is a great nation - that American’s are good God-fearing people.

Rick’s got his faults, but being PRO-America isn’t one of them.

“We must say to every Texas child learning in a Texas classroom, ‘we don’t care where you come from, but where you are going, and we are going to do everything we can to help you get there. And that vision must include the children of undocumented workers."

-Rick Perry. The Patron saint of border jumpers.

Now lets compare this with say the position of what many on FR consider a liberal leaning Republican President's Teddy Roosevelt:"We should insist that if the immigrant who comes here does in good faith become an American and assimilates himself to us he shall be treated on an exact equality with every one else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed or birth-place or origin.

But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American and nothing but an American. If he tries to keep segregated with men of his own origin and separated from the rest of America, then he isn't doing his part as an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. . . We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language, for we intend to see that the crucible turns our people out as Americans, of American nationality, and not as dwellers in a polyglot boarding-house; and we have room for but one soul loyalty, and that is loyalty to the American people."

So I think I am safe in saying Perry is very left of center on immigration.

So? If an 8 year old, or 10 year old, or hell, even 15 year old CHILD is dragged across the border into Texas, that’s the CHILD’S fault?

I’m ok with (yes, ILLEGAL) students who meet these requirements paying in-state tuition. I think this is a sensible and fair decision. If a student is in college, they are less likely to be robbing, raping, or killing their fellow Americans.

Don’t throw the babies out with the bathwater.

Common sense often fails to play a part in talk about illegal immigration. The fact is though that NO viable major candidate is going to advocate for a mass forced deportation of 12 million illegals.

You can call it “moderate” and snigger under your breath, but it’s practical, and logical.

Do you blame the children for their parents illegal acts?

Do you blame an 11 year old if the parents are drug dealers?
Do you blame an 15 year old if the parents are caught speeding? Drunk driving?

There’s a “perfect world”, which ain’t happening until Jesus comes back - then there’s the “real world”.

Different folks have different opinions, I get that. I’m ok with us not agreeing on this specific topic - because hey, God made us different - and that’s a GREAT and BLESSED thing.

Of the folks specifically declared to be running - ANY of the R’s are better than Obama, but I like Bachmann - and Cain.

*IF* Palin runs, I’d like her, too. *IF* Perry runs, I’d like him, too.

If there are 30 million illegals in America, that’s enough to populate more than 50 congressional districts. We can’t afford any more moderation on the border if we are to have any hope of preserving our nation.

Conservatives need to man up and stop looking the other way when it comes to the newest political idol of the moment.

7 tied to MS 13 murders in a Texas sanctuary city.

What part of illegal do you not understand? They are not fellow Americans. They are illegal aliens. If we cart them back over the border then their own government can foot the bill for their education or they can let them rob, rape and murder fellow Mexicans. We have plenty of native born American children that need that money for their education and I don't see the Mexican government footing the bill for them.

And - they THEMSELVES foot the bill for their education in college. That’s the POINT.

But Perry has the tax payers of the state of Texas (as well as all taxpayers because of the amount of Federal money in education) footing the bill for Mexican Nation's education and he is just fine with it. Not only is he just find with it he wants MORE OF IT!

It's not just his stance on illegals either. Please explain how his stance on the gardasil is any different for Obama's basic premise for Obamacare?

Tell it to the parents of a child raped or murdered by a 13,14,15 year old illegal see where it gets you. By the way it happens everyday, just pick-up any paper.

Even here in Michigan its common to see mention in the paper of illegals being arrested for any number of crimes. A few months back, 3 illegals were arrested in the next town down the road in a murder for hire plot.

I grew up with migrant workers coming and going, some have become lifelong friends and citizens but those coming today bear little resemblance to those of the 60s and 70s. Back then they came for an opportunity to make their own way, today they come angry about what we’ve “stolen” from them.

>> Do you blame the children for their parents illegal acts?<<

Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers.” (Deuteronomy 24:16)

“Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. But each one shall die for his own sin.” (2 Kings 14:6)

The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. (Ezekiel 18:20, cf. Jeremiah 31:30)

And for those who might, please don’t quote “the sins of the fathers to the third and fourth generation”.

I the Lord...visit the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.” (Exodus 20:5; cf. Numbers 14:18)

You’re calling me a RINO? Because I simply quoted scripture? Are you typically prone to such ill thought out positions? No where in that post did I intimate or hint to my position on people in this country illegally. If you call yourself a conservative is it any wonder why libs and others look at true conservatives as uneducated Neanderthals? By making that assumption you have exposed your inability to think beyond what’s for lunch.

I believe anyone in this country illegally needs to either leave, be sanctioned or punished for their illegal status to the extent they were responsible for that illegality. I also believe that the borders need to be totally, completely, and permanently sealed other then strictly controlled entry points.
