No Forgiveness for John Edwards
The National Enquirer reports that when John Edwards realized that the end was near he begged his betrayed wife for forgiveness, but Elizabeth refused to relent.
On her deathbed, a hurt, angry Elizabeth screamed at John, saying ‘You ruined my life — I’ll NEVER forgive you!’
Reports say that John Edwards repeatedly broke down in tears, and actually doubled over with grief at Elizabeth’s bedside. But she showed John no remorse. Nothing he said could change Elizabeth’s mind.
The only concession Elizabeth was willing to grant her cheating husband was to pray with him that God would give him the strength to protect and raise their two young children, Jack and Emma Claire, after she was gone.
Cutting John Edwards Out of Her Will
Not only did Elizabeth refuse to forgive John as she neared death, she informed John that she’d changed her will to cut him off from part of their $53 million fortune if he married his mistress, Rielle Hunter, after she died.
As she lay dying, Elizabeth Edwards also unleashed her anger at Rielle Hunter for destroying her marriage and ruining the bright political future John Edwards had.
According to reports. Elizabeth also had a few choice words for Rielle before she died, screaming to John that Rielle…. will 'rot in hell!
A source close to the Edwards family reported that when it finally dawned on John that the end was near for Elizabeth, and that she would never forgive him, he collapsed.
No doubt John realized that the stress of dealing with his infidelity, and the bitterness and rage she felt about his betrayal served to hasten Elizabeth Edwards’ death.
The animosity Elizabeth harbored for his mistress, Rielle Hunter, was probably a contributing factor , as well.
Elizabeth Edwards' deathbed words will probably haunt John Edwards for the rest of his life.
I don’t put much credence in the drama of this article.
This is a very sad story, whether the yelling happened or not, there are no winners is this saga.
Many other families suffer the same story, they just don’t have much money and very few know about it.
The MSM knew from day 1. They sat on the story to allow Edwards to take out Clinton in favor of Obama. Hell, even O'Reilly said he knew, and wasn't going to report it.
I have assumed that the only money Elizabeth Edwards had of her own was whatever she made from public appearances and book sales, and I thought that at her death, the homes would be her husband’s. I have no idea how the investment funds’ ownership was set up, but I would guess that this money would be what Johnny is worried about, not whether or not he is forgiven.
She was willing to keep quiet about the matter as he was seeking the White House. She needs to let it go.
Ouch! That really gets to the nut of the total package of sleaze both of them were.
And to think that little worm Edwards might have been President. Small comfort though, as we ended up with even worse.
I’m with you on this one. While NE has obviously been right on many occasions, they’ve also been wrong. It just doesn’t sound like real life - a dying woman screaming and ranting and a scum b** crying and pleading. Of couse, I HOPE it’s true, but that’s just me. Me bad.

I doubt that.
Good for her. May her refusal to forgive sting the tiny nub of what may have once been a soul in Edwards' creepy little self until he dies from an STD or suicide.
I, too, found her last public statement strangely absent at least a nod to her Creator and, hopefully, Savior. But, to each her own.
As to the Enquirer story, I would imagine the incident probably took place well before she died, and the Enquirer changed the venue to spice it up.
Weasel had it coming.
How much will you bet that he contests her will, saying she wasn’t in her right mind when she changed her will, that she was too angry, agitated and even in a state of rage; therefore, her will is null and void. And if that argument doesn’t float, then Johnnyboy might argue the mind numbing and mind altering effects of the pain relieving drugs caused her to be non compos mentos when she re-wrote the will.
I can hear him in court now, “Your honor, if America is divided into two Americas, then Elizabeth’s mind was divided into two Elizabeths; therefore, Elizabeth was, (sob) schizophrenic. And if she was schizophrenic, which my expert witnesses testified to, then she was incapable of knowing that leaving me out of her will would put me back into the poor house, e.g., the poor house I knew as a young boy when my Daddy worked his fingers to the bone at the mill so that I wouldn’t be thread-bare, etc., etc. etc”.

I had nothing against E. Edwards until she made a snarky comment about Lynn Cheney and her lesbian daughter, Mary, when her creep husband was running for vp. It was something bad - but I can’t think of the exact quote. (Freepers can fill you in, lol!) That, as well as her awful postings on DU, the portrait of her in “Game Change,” undermined any respect I had for the woman.
IN NC, he has survivors rights. He gets the money. Also she cannot have a condition in the Will that extends into the future unless she hid THEIR money in a Trust.
Let me get this straight. John E amassed a fortune of $53 million dollars and he ruined her life?
Hell yes.
