2010 Prediction: Libs try to Split Conservative Movement
Western Hero ^ | 12 Jan 2010 | Silverfiddle

I don't know who will win the Super Bowl or the World Series.  I imagine the economy will remain flat, struggling under weighty government regulation and taxation with uncertainty added in for good measure, but I really don't know.

This I do Know:

The liberal establishment will do their damnedest to splinter us

It's the only shot liberals have at stopping the conservative onslaught.  The press will shine a white hot spot spot light upon every microscopic crack and fissure within the conservative movement.  These minuscule differences will be played up into grand canyons and unbridgeable chasms.

Liberals will be driving wedges anywhere they see an opening, hoping to spawn rightwing third-party, fourth-party, Neo-Whig Constitutionalists, John Galt Objectivist Libertarian Party movements, whatever.  Anything to fracture the hated anti-government, pro-liberty opposition and guarantee continued democratic dominance.

Elites Left and Right Will Never Understand The Tea Party Movement

Establishment chatterers like David Brooks describe the tea party movement in unflattering or negative language:

The tea party movement is a large, fractious confederation of Americans who are defined by what they are against.

They are against the concentrated power of the educated class. They believe big government, big business, big media and the affluent professionals are merging to form self-serving oligarchy — with bloated government, unsustainable deficits, high taxes and intrusive regulation.

My response?  Hell Yeah!  And we're angry. And we vote!

And we won't be voting for liberals or squishy moderates.  And what's so bad about being "against."  I'll bet every single one of these whiny liberals are "against" being poked in the eye with a stick, so drop the BS already!

We are Conservatives, We don't need leaders to tell us how to think

We are conservatives; we don't need to roll ourselves into one tight stinking, collectivist ball like the libs do.  We don't need a community organizer to bribe us with hooch and smokes to go to the polls.  We don't need a leader to tell us what to think.  This is unimaginable to collectivist huddled masses on the left.

We will argue with one another over Sarah Palin; cultural conservatism versus libertarianism; and a thousand other flash points, but we won't take our ball and go home.  We will vote conservative in November because we are 100% united in complete opposition to the Obama-Pelosi-Reid Socialist-Statist agenda.

2010:  The year we burn their ACORNS so bad they won't be worth pulling out of the fire!

Purely reactionary and unoriginal - what Repubs did to them on health care, WOT, economic bailout, etc

The bolshies don’t have to split conservatives; the Republican Party split the conservative movement. Having a sitting Republican president call us un-American for opposing his push for illegal immigrant amnesty split the movement more than the communist media ever will.

No doubt about their strategy. Of course there will be rinos enough (eg Brooksie boy) that the 'rats won't even have to work up a sweat.

Fortunately, nobody cares what david brooks thinks except his masters at the Slimes.

No one will split the CONSERVATIVES. They may try to help a developing split between RINOS and CONSERVATIVES.

I’m not sure how effective they’ll be at splitting us if we’re voting conservative.

Frankly, I’ve gotten annoyed at Glenn Beck, because he seems to be advocating for a Third Party movement for the 2012 elections.

AMEN! Don't abandon the Republican party, Take it Back! And demand they vote like conservatives! We threw our own bums out once, and we will do it again if they don't stick to conservative principles!

Wasn’t it George Bush and then GWB who promised that NAFTA (globalization) would bring prosperity . Right ...let us just keep electing these one world Republicans because that is almost all they have to offer. I voted Republican since Gerald Ford for lack of better choices. If there are better choices I will vote for that person. If we remain unprincipled in our voting (voting only against Dems) we will get only more of the same. And what we’ve had are elite “weak america” politicians. How many executive orders did W sign to increase our homegrown energy supplies. How many such bills were introduced and really fought for when “conservatives” controlled congress. Go and continue voting for these losers. This is ruining our country.

Possibly but the Libs will be cornered Rats here in 2010.
Their subterfuge options may just be a bit limited.

Why is it you people can only see either “voting for RINOs” or “voting third party”? How about, conservatives taking the GOP back and kicking the RINOs out? You ever think of that, genius?

Third partyists are traitors to conservatism.

That is some prediction. A better one would be to predict something that Captain Obvious with downs syndrome could have come up with.

Of course they’ll try to splinter us, thats what they always do.

Great post.

Let me just issue the same warning as usual to FR.

With regard to the primaries, please advocate to your heart’s delight for the most conservative candidate you wish in whatever mold you can defend. I will not attack differences harshly in that venue.

At the time of the general election, I will attack arguments regarding individuals opposing a transparently liberal/socialist person.

As an example, it is ridiculous to not support the Republican in the Massachussetts general election this next week. That Republican is arguably RINO— so what!

Coakley and the Dem party would be massively damaged by such a defeat.

It seems so obvious but as we approach 2010 whither aware or not FR posters will divide our movement with the RINO argument. As a pro-life, pro American, pro-Christian conservative, I want our politics to as reflective of such values as humanly possible.

With that said, I refuse to surrender in general election circumstances, I will not pretend that Republicans = Democrats. That is absolute bull. It is downright dangerous. 2006 and 2008 were too much.

We must stop the Democrats in 2010. The Republican party should be purified as much as possible in the primary possible, but . . .

Great post, and I will answer your first sentence. The Vikings will win the Super Bowl. You heard it here first.

Lonestar: You said it way better than I ever could. Massachusetts does not like their Republicans extra-spicy conservative like Texas does (I am an extra-spicy fan myself).

So demanding nothing but a a Texas Style republican will do for that state is a recipe for continued Democrat dominance.

The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally — not a 20 percent traitor.” -- Ronald Reagan

This Reagan quote is completely lost on some people who claim to believe in what this great man stood for, Demanding absolute purity will turn you into an absolutely pure loser.
