Smoking out the media --- Breitbart’s real aim is to expose coordinated media blackouts
Island Turtle ^ | Seotember 26, 2009 | Corky Boyd

Posted on 09/26/2009 10:21:02 AM PDT by Corky Boyd

When the Swiftboat story first surfaced in early August 2004, John Kerry ignored it on the advice of his staff. For that he blames his loss. Why did his advisors take this tack? Most likely because they had confidence the story would be “ignored” by the old media. And it was. That is until talk radio and Fox news made it an issue. The rest is history.

The new bias of the established media is not the phony story or the coordinated regurgitation of DNC talking points. It is the blackout of major stories that reflect badly on Democrats. But the curtain of obscurity is being peeled back by Andrew Breitbart. The NEA scandal was exposed by Breitbart’s Big Hollywood website and the more recent ACORN exposé was the blockbuster he used to launch his Big Government site.

But he doesn’t stop there. Breitbart is challenging the old media. He challenged them on September 7, two days before the O’Keefe and Giles tapes were made public. He knew the media would jointly ignore the story. He was setting them up. And they took the bait. Here is his challenge from the Sept 21 Washington Times (emphasis added), read it all:

"Everything you needed to know about the unorthodox roll out of the now-notorious ACORN sting videos was hidden in plain sight in my Sept. 7 column, "Katie Couric, Look in the Mirror." ACORN was not the only target of those videos; so were Katie, Brian, Charlie and every other mainstream media pooh-bah."

When the Swiftboat CERTIFIGATE story first surfaced in early August 2004 2008, John Kerry BARACK OBAMA ignored it on the advice of his staff. For that he blames his IMPENDING loss. Why did his advisors take this tack? Most likely because they had confidence the story would be "ignored" by the old media. And it was. That is until talk radio and Fox news made it an issue. The rest is WILL BE history.

The best example of this came from ABC's anchor, Charlie Gibson. "I don't even know about it. So you've got me at a loss," he told WLS radio when asked about it. "But my goodness, if it's got everything, including sleaziness in it, we should talk about it in the morning." But he also said that what was seen on these videos was best left for the "cables."

The big networks were so obviously ignoring a big story since it had what they absolutely love! Pimps, prostitutes, illegal aliens, ACORN. If Bush had been president at the time they'd have been all over it.

Breitbart did a brilliant job of handling the release of those ACORN videos for maximum entertainment. Drip...drip...drip....It was highly gratifying to see the MSM try to play catch up and say they weren't playing catch up at the exact same time. He outed them for the manipulative hypocrites that they all are. The Wash Post waited to cover it until after Congress voted to stop their funding and the Census Bureau cancelled their collaboration. (It ran a couple of short, lame wire stories on the inside, in the meantime.)

One of my favorites moments: when the Wash Post finally reported the Van Jones story, he had already issued two apologies -- and they had to report that, too.

The reason Kerry tried to ignore the Swiftboat story is that he knew they were telling the truth...so he hoped the media would continue to keep it out of the news.

I'm still waiting for ANY media, even Fox to explain the "Kerry math". He joined the Navy in 1966 for a 6 year stint. His discharge says 1978. What happened to the 1972 discharge, the REAL discharge, and was it less than honorable?

Simple question, simple math, simple answer. When he says he has released his DD214, I want the one in 1972.

We have had a traitor( one of many) holding office for decades that is living a lie, and nobody seems to care. I was telling my daughter that if the truth isn't revealed at some point, future citizens may believe Mikey Jackson was a giant of a man instead of a dope head child molester, Ted Kennedy was a good Catholic instead of a womanizer baby killer that went to the KGB to overthrow the will of the American people, and Kerry was a war hero instead of a cry baby traitor that sold out his own country in Hanoi.

Seems to me these would be easy Pulitzers for anyone with some pluck to expose them to the sunshine. You may say "Everyone knows Jackson was a pedophile doper", but will your children remember after you are gone? Will Obama be on our money some day, or will he be remembered as the Kenyan communist usurper, that overthrew the greatest country in history? It all depends on who writes the history.

They’re still too busy dumpster diving in Wasilla to know anything about ObamAcorn.

Of course, stories like “The Mother of Bristol Palin’s former fiance pleads guilty to drug charges” gets 24/7 coverage.

Shortly after the ‘04 election, Kerry was on Meet the Press and promised Tim Russert he would release his 180. Guess I missed when that happened.

Believe it or not, the media has a very important role to play in our system of checks and balances. If the media never criticizes, then who ever is in power will certainly feel enboldened to take more and more power and corruption will absolutely follows. Emperor Obama gets not checks and balances from the old media and feels like he can get away with anything, like Czars who are the most radical people ever to populate American government. Its like they continue to give Obama rope and he will surely hang himself with the media’s unwitting assistance. And they are too damned stupid to understand that point.

Timmy is dead, so the promise is null and void.

Come on, get with the program!

The new bias of the established media is not the phony story or the coordinated regurgitation of DNC talking points. It is the blackout of major stories that reflect badly on Democrats.

It's certainly not new! The suppression or downplaying of the opposition's point of view has always been the standard media method of tilting public perceptions. We're seeing it in today's "educational" establishment too. History? What history? Civics? Only Che Guevara's, of course.

not much on Charlie Rangel-—a big time criminal, Pelosi’s fed aid in CA for her companies, Feinstein’s hubby getting bids and jobs for his firm from the govt, Corzine in NJ, the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac doings, no transparency for the FED dollars, 45 czars—no names or backgrounds discussed, the criminal enterprise called ACORN, the enormous amt of money raised for ZERO during his election run and where it came from (not the little people), ZERO’s waffling and LIES, Valerie Jarrett’s background, Michelle’s real background and associates, Rahm Emanuel’s property and charitable deductions questionable, David Axelrod’s firm run by son getting money for PR now from the govt., Eric Holder’s rampant bias and bigotry, and conflict of interest (see his law firm), etc. no reporting from the state run media.

Yeah, but Timmy was around for quite a while after the promise. I never heard him follow up, either. The left just wants to keep its ‘swiftboarding as evil lying and responsible for not getting Kerry elected’ mantra going.
You see, Kerry himself had NOTHING to do with his not getting elected.

No, these would not be easy Pulitzer because the Pulitzers are part of the problem. The Pulitzer panels are made up of MSM “journalists” who take turns giving each other prizes.

If Bush had been president at the time they'd have been all over it.

Just imagine if the ACORN videos had happened at a Catholic Charities office. The MSM would have loved it.
