Carly Fiorina, whose rocky tenure as chief executive of Hewlett Packard ended with her firing, is making serious preparations to run next year for the Republican nomination to challenge U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.).
Fiorina's candidacy would be her first foray into elective politics and would turn California's Senate contest into one of the most closely watched in 2010.

Carly Fiorina went to my high school. Don’t worry, I turned out better. ;)
Exactly the kind of disaster we don’t need: a RINO celebrity wannabe who gets pummeled by a hardcore leftist RAT and drags Republicans down even further.
“Exactly the kind of disaster we dont need: a RINO celebrity wannabe who gets pummeled by a hardcore leftist RAT and drags Republicans down even further.”
Well, just about any Republican of any stripe would get pummeled by the hardcore leftist RAT, because CA is a hardcore leftist state.
If she does run and proves to be a step up from Boxer (is there any other direction you can go?), let’s hope she doesn’t go to strip joints or sleep with little boys/girls, etc ‘cause ole Barb loves to sling the dirt two weeks before the election to win. Typical dim - she doesn’t win on her merits, she just trashes the opposition...
Boxer will win easily. CA is as leftist as they come. No contest.
One California train wreck vs another California train wreck. Who wins?
Safest seat in the senate....that’s why she’s the designated attack bitch.
Fiorina was widely respected in the business world and exactly what California needs right now.
She would be a excellent senator and a even more better governor.
Does she speak spanish? Is she gay? Did she go to micheal jacksons 1.4 million dollar death show? those are the important issues.
If the GOP picked her they truly are the stupid party. California is sunk no matter who wins.
Uh, I don't think the HP Board of Directors and shareholders agree. She basically ignored their cash cow business line (printers and aftermarket supplies) in pursuit of a commodity market (PCs) that has very slim margins. Affirmative Action in the corporate world?
She is widely respected among the business world.. the forbes magazine, WSJ, Fox business network...they realise she is a visionary for thinking forward with their compaq merger.
As for the board, they are known for their politics and they are not seriously. A good CEO knows when to leave and Fiorina quit at the right moment having completed her restructure.
Fiorina is highly qualified and a fiscal conservative and to talk about affirmative action is just as ridiculous to claim Palin as a recepient of affirmative action.
Fiorina. Epic fail.
Good freaking grief! If AL FRANKEN and Barbara BOXER can be Senator, then ANYONE....and and I mean ANYONE can be!
blah blah blah yackity smackity
I get so sick of this same old mantra.
You have been drinking the Carly Kool-Aid.
She was able to overcome David Packard’s (Board member) initial attempts to deny the Compaq merger. When the Board saw the results and thought about the strategy (rather than her press clippings) they asked her to go.
She failed at her job because she drastically and foolishly miscalculated. Maybe she’ll do better in politics, where there is relatively little accountability.
The only reason Fiorina is being courted is that she can self-fund, forcing the ‘Rats to spend their resources in that expensive state. It would dilute their efforts elsewhere.
