You’re the press secretary for the most powerful man on the planet. You’re in the middle of the greatest financial crisis in generations. Terrorists threaten the future of the world. Under the circumstances, people hang on your every word.

Unless you’re Robert Gibbs, the president’s press secretary. He smirks, he snarls, he smears, but even that isn’t enough to keep reporters from falling into deathlike trances during his daily press briefings.

One member of the White House press corps actually fell asleep yesterday. You can see her over the left shoulder of the reporter asking the question in this video.

Well why not? It’s not as though she didn’t know what she was going to report before he started talking anyhow!

“One member of the White House press corps actually fell asleep yesterday”

...hearing the words “Hope” and “Change” over and over will do that.

Actually, the “falling asleep” part to me is the most alarming! This exhibits how relaxed and calm they are with BO in charge. Any reporter with any sense would be wide eyed and throwing questions like...
“What is the WH doing about Cuba and Venezuela hosting Russian Bombers?”
“What’s BO’s reaction to the new Bin Laden tape”?
“China is worried about American Treasuries...is the WH?”

...that would keep them awake!

Gibbs is the worst press spokesman for the WH in American history. He makes Elmer Fudd look like a rocket scientist!

this guy is barak hussein’s version of saddam husseins minister of propaganda who we know as baghdad bob.......

long term, we might become grateful for having this ass (as opposed to someone who is competent, measured, believable and slick) officially representing obama and his masters publicly....if it/he lapses into a factor in the turn-around of the present course of events

As the day today spokesman for 0 he regularly indicates the character, attitudes, opinions and beliefs of our POTUS. They are vindictive children with terrible power.

It would seem a “health” reporter would know how to get a good nights sleep!

Apparently, she’s pregnant...could be tough getting a full night’s sleep, depending on how far along she is.

being pregnant is no excuse for not doing your job.

if it is, then being drunk would be preferable... as you may have some days you aren’t drunk, while you are pregnant 100% of the time.

meanwhile, i’m glad we have half conscious, hormone laden, heavy duty ‘health’ reporters pushing the WH and ferreting out the truth.

And if you dare ask a thought-provoking or obstreperous question, you, too, will have a career-ending experience.

I never said it was. And I'm sure that Meckler got an earful from her bosses.

Still, I remember when my wife was pregnant with our very rowdy son, and had a long commute and a mind-numbing workday, which was split between seemingly endless meetings follwoed by hours upon hours crunching numbers at a computer terminal.

So, I'm somewhat more sympathetic to this woman's lapse.

LOL if it was a Republican in office, they would be asking questions like: “Is this current disaster a result of you deliberately setting out to wreck the US economy, or just your incompetence?”

I've viewed a Gibbs press conf three times, each no longer than thirty secs. He's intolerable. I'd rather be trapped in a cave with Fran Drescher than listen to Gibbs.

The MSM are asleep on the job because they aren’t allowed to be inquisitive journalists.

They go in there knowing they have to not challenge anything and come out rubber stamping the propaganda sold by Gibbs.

Sleep is a good option in this case.

Yo! Get it straight. She’s a health POLICY reporter. We’re trying to work on some health policy over here, dammit!
