Bill Gertz on His Book: The Failure Factory (Gertz on Rush Limbaugh, transcript)
RushLimbaugh.com ^ | November 12, 2008 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 11/23/2008 1:48:26 PM PST by Sun

RUSH: We're joined now by Bill Gertz, another book, a prolific writer. Bill, it's a long title. I'm going to mention the title in full once, and I'm just going to call it The Failure Factory after that. Is that all right?

GERTZ: That's great.

RUSH: The Failure Factory: How Unelected Bureaucrats, Liberal Democrats, and Big Government Republicans are Undermining America's Security and Leading Us to War. Now, your focus is the Pentagon, that's your beat for the Washington Times, but you cover in this book the financial sector in a way. I mean, you write about Henry Paulson, you refer to them as "the Goldman Sachs gang." Tell people what's in your book about the current circumstance.

GERTZ: Yeah, this is a different look for me in terms of in the past I've focused on national security issues, mostly threats from abroad, North Korea and China. snip

RUSH: The bureaucracy that you write about is now clearly ecstatic, I would think, with the incoming Obama administration. What does that portend? I mean, how is this going to lead to us war? That's in your title.

GERTZ: Yes. Basically my argument in The Failure Factory is that the bureaucrats do not want the United States to be a strong power, and they want to project weakness, conciliation. We're going to see arms control policies that have failed 100% of the time in the past, because as is always the case, the US abides by these agreements, and the people that we do these agreements with violate them, whether it's North Korea or Russia in the past. So we've got to make sure and, you know, this is the role of the press and talk radio is to expose these policies.

This from the OP, I find especialling chilling:

"GERTZ: Yes. Basically my argument in The Failure Factory is that the bureaucrats do not want the United States to be a strong power, and they want to project weakness, conciliation." The liberals in our own govt. WANT us to be WEAK. Of course, most FReepers already know that, but many people don't.

I started this thread because of the cyber attacks from Communist China and Gertz is an expert on China (including writing the book, "The China Threat.") Wish more talk show hosts, and Fox News would have Bill Gertz on their shows to talk about national security, including Red China, because Gertz is an expert, and gets inside info. from the Pentagon.

Drudge used to have him on often, when Drudge did his radio show.

Bill Gertz told Rush that a future war with Red China is our country’s biggest threat.

Gertz asks talk radio to expose the liberal govt’s policies.

We can help by calling a talk show ourselves, whether it’s a local talk show, or national one.

We’ll have war soon.

GERTZ: “I think the biggest threat facing the country is a future war with China. The Chinese are building up their military forces on a war footing, they’re cranking out new submarines like sausages, and our leadership is basically in a delusionary mode by claiming over and over again that there’s no threat from China, and that is projecting weakness, which is going to lead to some miscalculation down the road, I predict, in the not-too-distant future. The solution is we need tough policies. We need to project peace through strength. We need to get back to the Reagan principles of conservative national security policy.”

It isn’t difficult for me to see this nation at war with China within two years - and this nation overran, because half of it will aid and assist the attackers.

It will be another ‘world war,’ but not in the mold of the past, because the entire ‘western nation’ complex has been weakened to the point of near immediate capitulation.

Forget any ‘peace through strength’ - which we know would work as it has in the past. Obama plans to disarm.

Earlier today C-SPAN had an interview of Bill Gertz by Frank Gaffney which was quite interesting, discussing Gertz’s new book. Maybe it will be shown again.

“Obama plans to disarm.”

Our only hope is the media.

We can write letters to editors, send info to talk show hosts, etc., but what we canNOT do is GIVE UP.

The liberal politicians want to be put in a favorable light somewhat, and when people are informed, they will put the pressure on their reps., the president, et al.

That’s great. The more tv and radio media Bill Gertz gets, the more people will be informed.

I’ll check out C-Span’s website to see if it will be replayed. ALSO, folks who don’t have cable can listen to C-Span online:

http://www.c-span.org/ - then look under “Live Streams” and click the one you want.

We can thank the South Carolina Republican Party, among other groups and interests, for them not allowing that to be or even be a remote chance.

I agree that we cannot give up, but at the same time I very much doubt any help can be made (or urged) to come from the failed MSM.

This time the ‘new media’ will be the MAIN source of opposition, as it already has been - shutting down the open-border legislation, to the point it could not proceed - and in general putting the brakes on the legislative idiocy of both the left, and left-leaning ‘right’ that infests the halls of Congress.

We’re in a weak position right now because conservatives have abandoned local activities - very important. We CAN shake up the political landscape, and really cause leftist heartburn - just by walking into the edge of the political arena in great numbers where we live. Nothing would bring more attention than that, and nothing would strike more fear into the hearts of the smug leftists that populate almost the entire political arena at the moment.

I’ll have to write more about how this is done - it’s amazingly easy - but, the problem is going to be convincing conservatives to actually get in the car, turn the ignition key and become part of the process.

Just look at what the appearance of hundreds of citizens at city council meetings does to media - it scares them no end... and often backs down the plans of leftists in elective office. But, that is only a minuscule example of effective citizens taking matters into their hands.

What I know to be far more effective IS - taking over ownership of the bottom of the political ladder - district at a time, across every county in the nation. We did it to put Reagan in office, and we can do it again. You only need to know where to start, and a few things about what to do once you’re ‘in the game.’ I’ve lived it, it can be done again.

One thing conservatives don't fully realize is that liberals are connected internationally to each other. The American Left loves the Euro Left and when the American Left speaks about Bush having destroyed America's reputation around the World what they mean is international Leftists are unhappy with Bush. This is a remnant of the USSR and the Cold War. Russia was the puppetmaster of the international Left. Russia provided a common ideology that bound international leftists together.

Conservatives don't have such international confederation because there has never been a common denominator such as the USSR providing a common ideology connecting conservative groups around the World.

Globalism probably ties in here as well.

USA the ‘New France’

Lord help us, you’ve put it as it very easily could be. Only this time, there won’t be any great nation capable, or even desirous, of coming to our aid.

The only reason France lasted as long as it did was because some field commanders refused to acknowledge the order to surrender.

Don’t you think the same is true of America?

OK, Ron, fine & good. But what do you propose we do about the leftist/commie indoctrination of our youth in the educational system? Homeschooling is not the answer and doesn’t even scratch the surface! How do you propose we take that back, if we ever had it? (a long, long time ago) And then there’s the problem of the “majority” minority vote & those 12 to 20M illegals that are pretty much all automatic demRat votes. Seems an *insurmountable task* from where I sit, which is a direct result of the moral decay of our society. Try stopping a raging tidal wave with two outstreched hands. I’m afraid, it ain’t happening. Nevertheless, I appreciate your forthRIGHTness.

“We CAN shake up the political landscape, and really cause leftist heartburn - just by walking into the edge of the political arena in great numbers where we live.”

Absolutely, and there are so many FReepers and lurkers all over the country, surely enough to make a big difference, especially if we bring a friend.

I email a local talk show host, & sometimes he emails me back, and I got him to talk about the (un)”Fair”ness Doctrine on his show. And, of course, I write letters to editors, because it’s a way to reach people who don’t listen to talk radio or use the internet, like my elderly aunt and her friends.

Citizens going to city councils is a great idea.
