These are photos of inscriptions which are over two of the doorways of the house we recently bought.
The question - Are these just artistic decorations or do they actually say something in some language?
If you don't know, but work at a university, etc. that has someone who knows middle eastern languages, I would REALLY appreciate you forwarding this to them so we can figure this out.
Those are pictographs, but I can’t post the interpretations in a public forum because it’s pornographic.
It says Make your time, all your houses are belong to us.
It says “UCLMCAVM”, which roughly means “I’m an infidel, kill me, hurry.”
I’d sell the house, but that’s just me.
In this market? It’d be cheaper to just tear them off with a pry bar.

Search out discussions of Arabic mosaics and you will find an amazing number of variations in the designs.
Depending on where the home is and when it was built, it could be Coptic, Lebanese or Arabic.
Looks like the signs contain Arabic of some sort (or Chinese because of the sun figure?)...I am pinging jveritas, FR’s wonderful language translator for his opinion on this.

The top one says “the treasure is located” or perhaps “the treasure is placed”
I can’t make out the name on the bottom one but it seems to be “under ????”

This is a 90 year old home of historical significance. The inscriptions are there because the owner took a trip to the holy land and after returning wanted to build a house that reminded them of what the holy land looked like at that time.
It is using one of the extremely complex and very old artistic Arabic writing but I can for sure read the word “allah”I think the whole phrase read “œla illah ila allah” which means “there no god but allah”. Again this is not a common Arabic writing, it is highly convoluted and 99.9% of people who speak and write Arabic cannot figure it out.
I can’t see the graphic thanks to the corporate firewall. If you think it might be based in the sub-continent, I can give it a shot and identify the script (or ask someone who can).
