Confirmation hearing, or Iraqi witch hunt?

Although I am not some beltway insider, I think I understand a little bit about the game of politics. I know that there was no way that Johnny Kerry was going to give his stamp of approval to Condi Rice, even though Kerry made statements about the Iraqi WMD's that didn't pan out. As far as Babs Boxer goes, what really can you expect from someone who is so far to the left.

I don't have any problems with the Senators putting Condi on the hot seat, because I know that she will tell the truth and stand up for herself as a person with a brain, instead of some Yes Woman that the left insists she is.

My problem is that instead of focusing on her qualifications for the job, this has turned into a mock trial of the Bush administrations' decision to go to war with Iraq. By holding up her confirmation, this is another way that the Democrats will try to prove to the American people that taking out Saddam was the wrong thing to do.

Politics as usual in Washington. Babs Boxer and John Kerry vote against Condi's confirmation. Nothing new, but is this about Condi becoming the next Secretary of State, or has it turned into the Iraqi WMD witch hunt?

Foolish Dems....Just another negative check mark for them and the continuation of their "We Hate Bush" campaign.

The far-left liberal Dems continue to make absolute FOOLS AND IDIOTS out of themselves. Kerry and Boxer can not hold a candle to the stature and background of Rice, yet they dare use her as a political punching bag to get at Bush.

The "useful idiots" that keep voting these pigs into our Congress should be thrown out of this country.

Where are the adults in the Democrat Party? I can think of only one - John Breaux of Louisiana. He is gone.... was outnumbered by these charlatans - who have no ideas, no manners, no poise, no intelligence - just raw hatred.

Decent Democrats (and they exist) should endeavor to save the 2 party system............with new candidates. This bunch of bloviators has self destructed.

The Neo-Progs were attempting to imply that Condi was in charge of both the Defense Department and the State Department for the past 4 years. They blamed Condi for everything but burning the stew in the melting pot.

Did anyone else notice the dismissive, soft little snort (ala a California "Valley girl") that Boxer was using near the end? She would use it right before introducing another snide and sarcastic anti-Condi remark. I mentioned the Boxer-snorts to my daughters and we all had a good laugh, as Boxer persisted in acting like a teenage 4th grade girl.

I don't think it's a witch hunt. It's a misguided grandstand. Abu Ghirab was the only issue that the Rats found seriously hurt Bush's approval numbers during the election cycle. They're going to ride that bicycle until the wheels fall off and the spokes are worn down to the nub, then get off and drag it another few miles.

I'll guarantee you there will be at least five major "news" stories about it, complete with synchronized talking points between now and the 2006 mid-terms. At least one of these stories will be about a single photograph that was "discovered."
