On January 20, 1961, Richard Nixon retired from public life. After losing a painfully close race for the White House, the former vice president relocated his family to Californiahis home state and scene of so many early political triumphs, where he and his wife, Pat, now planned to build a handsome, four-bedroom ranch house in an exclusive subdivision in Bel Air.
For the first time in his life, Nixon was earning real moneyroughly $3 million annually in todays dollarsas a lawyer, syndicated columnist and book author. So it gnawed at his ego when the Los Angeles Times ran a sensational headline accusing him of receiving a celebrity discount on the purchase of the lot where he planned to raise his new home. Whats wrong with what I did? Nixon demanded of Frank McCulloch, the editor of the Times. He wasnt an officeholder anymore. His personal financial affairs were no ones business....

Despite Watergate, he was a far superior president than most of the recent White House occupants. A true statesman, in every way.
Yepper - except for the Watergate fiasco, he would have been a good President.
"President Richard Nixon proposed the establishment of EPA and it began operation on December 2, 1970, after Nixon signed an executive order."
Just saying.
She is such a sore loser, of course plenty of people are going to poke fun of her.
He didn’t. He quietly disappeared (as he did after the 1960 election), wrote books, gave an occasional interview and didn’t whine or spew. He wasn’t perfect but he was a MAN - a WWII vet.
She is utterly and completely bereft of the prime Virtue of Humility
“But the near-universal vitriol she confronts is historically unprecedented among candidates who came so close to victory, and all the more galling in light of what weve since learned about the role of the Russian government in crippling her campaign.”
The article was excellent and informative until I got to the quote above. I scanned a few paragraphs after that to see if it got more balanced but it got worse.
Great history lessons about Nixon but the headline (Why Do They Hate Her? Hillary Clinton is the most maligned presidential loser in history), was obviously misleading.
There is soooooooooooo much about Hitlary that could have been written explaining why people hate her, the writer would still be writing and explaining. Yes, I too despise her but worse, I loath the people that allowed and continue to front for her. She belongs in prison more than those already there.
And yet, just 8 short years later the Rats would pass the GCA of 68.
She does remind me of SPECTRE’s Rosa Klebb in “From Russia with Love”.
But the near-universal vitriol she confronts is historically unprecedented among candidates who came so close to victory, and all the more galling in light of what weve since learned about the role of the Russian government in crippling her campaign.
“The article was excellent and informative until I got to the quote above.”
EXACTLY what I felt. I read and read and read the article, but when I got to that sentence, I stopped. Why bother to finish the rest of it? Drivel.
What odd thinking. Wanting a criminal and traitor to face Justice and the Rule of Law is “hate”? How odd. I guess in the world of the LIB lunatics logic and reason are “illogical” and “unreasonable”. Odd.
As an intern, Hillary was dismissed for lying.
She was a shady lawyer, a corrupt first lady in both Arkansas and DC, an inconsequential Senator, and an incompetent and corrupt Secretary of State.
She cheated her opponent to get the Democrat Presidential Nomination.
The thing I don’t understand is why ANYONE considered voting for her.
She has earned that and she deserves that. Evil should be hated.
The word loser fits very nicely when describing Hillary Clinton. Especially in regards to history.
In the Bible, the Apostle John wrote, “We loved Him because He first loved us.” The opposite is also true. We tend to hate people who first hated us. Both Hillary and Obama never even bothered to conceal their disdain for Americans. So a lot of Americans responded in kind.
She could not have lied about Benghazi unless she and Barry hadn't turned Libya into an anarchic hellhole first.
I guarantee you she personally has written nothing. Virtually nome of the pols (or celebrities) write their own books. Palin didn’t. I think DT probably wrote the skeleton of “Art of the Deal” but Reagan didn’t write “Where’s the Rest of Me?”
Unlike Reagan, most don’t even name their writers, who get good money.
