BAGHDAD — Kurdish security forces took over two major oil fields outside the disputed northern city of Kirkuk before dawn Friday and said they would use some of the production for domestic purposes, further widening a split with the central government of Prime Minister Maliki. The president of the Kurdish (prior, no fly) zone has said the areas won't be returned — including the highly disputed, flashpoint city of Kirkuk — and he called for Kurdish lawmakers to prepare to hold an independence referendum in the area, a move strongly opposed by Baghdad, Turkey and the United States.

Maliki replaces Kurdish foreign minister as sectarian rift widens... Kurdish (leadership) announced they would pull out of the central government earlier on Friday. Peshmerga forces expanded their control to include Kirkuk in June and now seem poised to declare their independence from the rest of Iraq. The prime minister of Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani, has called for a public referendum on independence in the coming weeks.

I welcome Kurdistan. Bush Sr. Left them to die. If done right we can have another stable republic in the region. But with Obama it is likely Obama will help ISIS fight the kurds.

Ritch, “Sunnnis jump the shark with the tomb vandalism. this is blunder. a strategic Saudi wrath”

Well mass beheading rape and pillage is probably a PR glitch also. Saudi is Whab, Their ‘WRATH” potential seems innogmatic. Arab “ Islam” is at best a short sheet on civilization, having only a down side, Iban, cut a deal with the devil must drink of the sour oil for the generations.

Meanwhile, Iran has Hamas start a war with Israel to keep them out of the ongoing partitions of Iraq and Syria — both of which serve the interest of Iran.
