Octomom, a.k.a. Nadya Suleman, has decided to forge ahead with her adult entertainment career and do a quick stint as a stripper. The mom of 14 booked a gig at T’s Lounge in West Palm Beach, and will perform from July 11 – 15.

This news comes on the heels of her house almost being foreclosed on, and her decision to make a masturbation porn. And while I think it’s easy to say “poor Octomom” at this point, I feel the opposite about her recent choices — I think she’s doing what she has to do to take care of her kids, and there is actually no shame in the sex work game. Of course, her situation points to all kinds of larger problems in our society — the fact that she was implanted with so many embryos in the first place, the fact that there isn’t enough day care or child care in the world to help her.

But her decision to do sex work isn’t the problem — it’s a solution (for the moment, at least) and a workable one at that.

Are her kids even old enough to be in day care? Some places won’t take a kid till they are one year old.

What is really sad about this is she really believed having all the kids would make her rich, or at least have lots of donations coming in. Most women who have multiple births do get a lot of outside help, and they do get by. However those moms have one thing that really helps, one thing that Octomom did not have. A father in the house. Oh gee is it not amazing how having a husband to raise multiple kids helps?

Of course you are correct. The kids are bearing the brunt of Octo’s behavior and subsequent skid, and they can’t be having much of a childhood as a result. I should have mentioned them first.
