Ricky Gervais has hit out at parents who 'put the fear of God' into their children for being gay or threaten them if they ever come out as being homosexual. The outspoken comedian will appear on CNN's Piers Morgan show tonight where he opens up about his atheist views as well as gay marriage and his weight loss. Known for speaking his mind and never shying away from controversy, the 50-year-old had some choice words for people who make homophobic comments to their children.

Ricky is an admitted atheist and says although he respects others' beliefs, he thinks some people take their opinions way too far to the point where it is detrimental to their offspring.
'I've got nothing against people believing in God at all,' he told the news show host. 'In fact, if it did make you a kinder person, if you only did good things in his name, then great. But there's the rub.'
'It's when I see some of these religious fundamentalists saying that they've told their five-year-old children that if they turn out gay, they will burn in hell.
'That to me is child abuse. That's nothing to do with religion or spirituality. That's child abuse. 'So that's why I'm passionate when it comes to that.'
When asked why he thought many in the Republican nomination race deliberately took the anti-gay marriage stance based on their religious beliefs, Ricky says they should be more tolerant....

I’m thinking that people that don’t tell their children about the perils of gaydom are child abusers. Anti gay comments to your child are a good thing, gives them a straight perspective, so to speak.

As to Ricky Gervais(the guy’s last name sounds like some kind of gum disease), here “Ricky’’, in a vernacular you’d know “SOD OFF!(that means go F yourself in Brit slang).

When I left Ca 20 years ago you could have your kid taken from you by CPS for telling at them.

Your thinking is correct. Homosexuality, bisexuality.... any of the alternatives to committed heterosexual marriage are an aberration before God and to teach your child otherwise does them a disservice, and is an abdication of your parental duty.
When I went to elementary school in Chino (as well as Florida) and Jr. High/H.S. in Pomona and Iowa, the principals could spank with either a ruler or hand. That’d land them in jail now.

By that time the damage is done. I don't know of anyone who would tell their child "just don't tell anyone you are a sodomite".
Telling a child that it is any unnatural and unhealthy lifestyle is just being honest with them. I thought the liberals wanted us to be honest with children about sex.

Homosexuality destroys the reproduction drive that is key to evolution to pass genes on... so it is illogical by the logic of evolution, except as a genetic self-destruct of that person...it is genetic suicide....
Speaking to any child, I am very careful about throwing out negative things about identifiable people, or types, I don’t want to brand the kid with a damning limited insult, which he may adopt before learning the larger context of how and why it is important to love the sinner, even as we fight to preserve decency and a clean culture, and to not contribute to people’s failings, but challenge them, etc..
The kind of short hand, generalizing, straight to the gut language that I might use with fellow adults or even here at FR, because we all know what we are talking about, example, Islam is the ‘Mohammedan Death Cult’, or the “homosexual political agenda is about advancing evil”, is just not the kind of language or concepts that I use with kids
By extension, taking your child to a church that actually teaches the Bible, which contains verses critical of homosexuality would be child abuse. Surely, even the existence of those churches could be seen as promoting child abuse. It’s only a matter of time folks.
Someone should have asked Ricky if he believed all Muslims are child abusers, since last time I looked not only did they consider it a sin, but it was also a very serious crime in Islamic countries.

LOL! Just glad my kids are raised and I did not get caught. They each carried lunch to school for the full 13 years. I probably even gave them a Kingsize Snickers bar too!
