“Ephesians 5:18 (NKJV) And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,”
If you are implying what I think you’re implying sir, then I’ll have you know, that is one of the most offensive messages I have ever received!
I am perfectly capable of delivering totally incomprehensible posts stone-cold sober!!!
Good day, sir. I SAID, “GOOD DAY”!!!
WOW!
You still hung on even after so kindly asking to be removed from the “ping” list.
Looks like the Sci-Fi stuff really got you riled... Hate to waste your time here. I know you probably have important stuff to do like, oh say, getting your Mr. Spock ears sharpened for the movie premier! Or do you go Klingon?
“O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us. - Robert Burns”
And this one, dr. lew...
“The great Creator to revere
Must sure become the creature
But still the preaching cant forbear,
And ev’n the rigid feature
Yet ne’er with wits profane to range
Be complaisance extended
An atheist laugh’s a poor exchange
For deity offended.”
Robert Burns
Marie, I would love to post something that might add weight to your argument, but when you’ve finished speaking there’s nothing left to say!
So all I can say is, “Let ‘em have it”!
GG
“I WAS in bed AND asleep but the alarm went off telling there was a post NOT about swine flu causing the next great extinction of life.”
And the supposed swine flu epedemic was about as true-to-life as the reality of your preshusss theorizzzzzzzzzzzzz.
And why the heck would anybody in their right mind let a post of any kind wake them from slumber? Ooops... answered my own question. Sorry!
Probably better than sharing the swine flu... if only slightly!
“I forgive you.”
That’s part of what makes our relationship so... well, so special. I’ve only known you for a short time but it seems like seconds. What we’ve shared is sacred (not in a “God” way, of course) but I feel it’s time we must go our separate ways. I’ll always treasure our time together and hope to see you on future posts so we can live, laugh and forgive again.
Sincerely,
Your brother in Christ,
Gordon Greene
“But I think I understand, when the bible doesnt make sense its poetry, and when it confirms your notions it should be taken literally.”
Good stinking night, is that irony for you or what???
I’ve watched you guys argue in and out of the whole, “this is alegory and that is not” thing so many times I can’t begin to count them!
Your reply was pure science fiction, mr. stormy.
But, in the spirit of the moment, like Unruly Human... I forgive you.
I don’t get it, are you guys agreeing or disagreeing with each other? BTW, C-Y-C is completely on our side as far as salvation is concerned...although he can be a bit recalcitrant when it comes to this young spaceship we call Earth.
I am humbled by your response...

Gesundheit !

“I dont get it, are you guys agreeing or disagreeing with each other? BTW, C-Y-C is completely on our side as far as salvation is concerned...although he can be a bit recalcitrant when it comes to this young spaceship we call Earth.’
And if I misunderstood the response, my apologies... hopefully we all have a good enough sense of humor to carry on a bit.
Thank you, triple G for the heads-up. When you’re in the foxhole it’s sometimes hard to identify the enemy.
“(Swine Flu Over the Cuckoos Nest)”
Funny, funny!
Nope... I tried. I got nothin’.
I’ll come up with one, I swear!
I have never thought of it that way before....The Evos also believe that random chance, plus brain-dead natural selection, developed a sense of humor!
I would never want to be in a foxhole with you...you would have me laughing so hard that you would get us both killed!
Nah... rather droll in person. Think Ben Stein meets Henry Kissinger, but without the intellect, the wit, or the ability to write.
But I am a pretty good shot with a straw and a spitball.
Any day that The Temple of Darwinism can be responded to is a day worth waking up for.
The second stanza warns, on the other hand, against profane jocularity.
The entire poem is at Epistle to a Young Friend.
Regarding the "Great Creator", note this from page 64 of Robert Burns and religion By J. Walter McGinty
Burns is fascinated by the discussion of what he calls 'those aweful & important realities' and among these is 'a God that made all things'. But he will not yield his assent to this belief to anything other than his own powers of observation. Burns empiricist philosophy leads him to set aside commonly held religious views because they do not match up to experience and observation.
I dare say that I would find less in this to object to than you would.
A gentleman and a scholar.
Again, forgive me for misunderstanding. It’s hard to understand anyone wanting to give up sleep... I consider it a rare and costly gift.
My wife considers it a thing to be interrupted by my snoring... go figure.
I may object to it’s conclusion, but the man was talented. I’m not sure I’ve ever read him before your post, but on a cursory search it’s extremely well-written verse.
I’ll peruse more. Thanks for the links.
