What Car Is Driven Exclusively By Idiots?
Jalopnik ^ | 3/14 | Andy Kalmowitz

Posted on 03/14/2024 4:18:00 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Some cars just attract a certain type of buyer, don't they?

A few weeks ago we talked about cars that looked dumb, but that doesn’t necessarily mean their owners are dummies themselves. That got me thinking: What cars are only driven by idiots? What cars are driven by the sort of people who can only breathe with their mouths wide open and their knuckles dragging on the ground?

It’s a question that has kept me up at night since I came up with it yesterday, and now I want to know what you think. Whether that’s a wise idea or not is yet to be seen. I guess it depends on what you all say (if someone says BMW Z4 I will cry and then block you from ever commenting on this website again).

Anyway, to me a classic example of cars that idiots exclusively drive is the Infiniti G35 and G37 in coupe and sedan versions. Honestly, anything that came with a VQ engine in the early 2000s probably fits this list. They’re owned by the type of people who say they’re still looking into the science about Covid-19 and they cannot wait to vote for Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Other great examples of this type of car are the E90 BMW 3-Series and the (obvious) Tesla Cybertruck. Really, any other big electric pickup truck will fit into this category.

OK, I don’t want to take too many ideas away from you all, so why don’t you head down below and let us know what car is exclusively driven by idiots?

Maybe elsewhere. Around here every other car is a Subaru, so you can’t apply the normal stereotypes. They have NRA and US Marines stickers and everything. They’re popular because this is snow country.

Have you ever owned a Suburu?

You don’t know what you’re talking about... It’s one of the all time best Japanese cars ever.

I had a 1982 Subaru GL wagon that I bought with 100K on it and sold for the same amount with 230K, nine years later. Never needed anything but regular oil changes, a new water pump once, and one of the front CV joints was going bad around 180K so I replaced them all. Great little car, though heavy for its size. The guy who bought it rolled it two days later.

OTOH, I've never owned a car whose name I couldn't spell. Looking forward to the experience.

Based on Arkansas State Police dashcam videos, the Dodge Charger is the official car of FAFO.

I pass cars down to the family. I wind up with the oldest car. I drive the fewest miles. I’m 77.

I was t-boned a few years ago. Hertz gave me a Mazda % suv the first year they had the front and back security cameras. I loved the car. It was a little bigger than a Honda CRV., Good driving position. Took the check from the car that was totaled and bought the hertz Mazda I had been driving.

Took it to Sacramento and back from San diego Did well in the mountains and the long haul up and back thru te valley on I-5.

Why Subaru? My daughter always buys them, drives them for years, goes back to same dealer for her next car, Excellent prices, terrific service. When she bought a last-year’s Subaru, they gave her new car warranty.

Perhaps the dealer matters.
