Stolen by a member of the ground crew. NO PILOTS LICENSE!...........
Video and ATC conversations.................
It ended badly..................
Aviation ping!.................
He didn’t crash it right after takeoff. He flew it around Puget Sound for a while.
Not my title..................
That was one crazy irrational guy. They are trying to help him land and he wants to do barrel roll and see the Olympics. Incredible. He won’t do that again.
Flying is easier when you don’t intend to land. Like Tom Petty said, it’s the hardest part.
And a “backflip” LOL.
Thanks much ......
even better then cops tazzzzing dirt bags ...
really .... all kidding aside,
a look at the reality of our time, a seemingly normal guy...
just bites the barrel .
His tone and demeanor said so much.
There, but by the grace of God, go I..
Wait… I meant the hardest thing. Waiting is the hardest part.
Guy made a decision.
a virtually instantaneous death is better than being sodomized for years in prison.
I think I remember this story. He was disgruntled or just got fired. I think he screwed up a repair job or something, got canned, and in retaliation he killed himself and a plane.
Wow.
What country did he immigrate in from?
It seems everything is being censored nowadays.
They omitted the radio transmission where he asked ATC if he could get a job as a pilot with Alaska Airlines if he successfully landed the aircraft. ATC said, “They would give you a job doing anything if you could pull this off”, to which he replied, “Yeah right! Nah, I’m a White guy.”
No he trained on this aircraft with simulator software- who knows where he got it. He was a thwarted, he said “screw up from day one” unappreciated and essentially crazy loon.
He flew all the way up to Bellingham, the ATC tried to coax him to land on the mil-airbase there to which he said “well, hell they’ll arrest me— can’t have that”.
Lunatic, and a dweeb all wrapped up in one. His responsibilities for Horizon Air was a plane taxi/mover/parker job- which is how he gained access to the cockpit. Needless to say he had no flight plan, and there WAS a real hero commercial pilot who got on the radio with this guy and tried very hard to tell him he could get over this episode if he returned the plane, and then learned to be a real pilot. It did not work, and running out of fuel rapidly (no duh with the maneuvers he made loops, 8’s , Emmelmenn turns)
and crashed on a wooded island.
That is correct, and the commercial pilot that tried to talk him down was very smart psychologically but this guy had a death wish— a what the hell why not death wish. Nuts, iow.
The US.........
Btw, the investigation determined his final decent was intentional. It crashed because that is what his motive was.
“He flew all the way up to Bellingham, the ATC tried to coax him to land on the mil-airbase there”
I’m sure you mean Whidbey Island NAS which isn’t Bellingham by any means. But I hadn’t heard that part of the story — thanks.
“a seemingly normal guy..”
The ground is trying to help him land and he is talking barrel rolls and nonsense. Luckily I’ve never had to deal with someone that crazy.
