Will New EPA Regulations Starve Millions Of People?
American Thinker ^ | 24 Aug, 2023 | Jerome R. Corsi

That’s the argument two distinguished climate scientists are making, and they’ve got the facts to back them up.

Two distinguished climate scientists have filed with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) a 45-page comment on the proposed regulation the EPA announced on May 11, 2023, setting emission standards that would require nearly all of coal- and gas-powered plants in the U.S.to capture almost all—90 percent—of their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2038 or shut down.

In their comment, William Happer, professor of physics, emeritus, Princeton University, and Richard Lindzen, professor of Earth, atmospheric and planetary sciences, emeritus, make both a legal and a scientific case that the EPA’s proposed new rule is based on ideologically driven polices with no basis in legitimate climate science. In a document that appears to be the prelude to filing a lawsuit to block the EPA from implementing the proposed regulation, Happer and Lindzen lay out a science-based case arguing that the new EPA rules designed to limit the use of hydrocarbon fuels in the nation’s power plants could end up reducing the world’s food supply so dramatically that billions of people worldwide would be at risk of death by starvation.

SNIP

- Fossil fuels are indispensable in creating nitrogen fertilizer and pesticides that feed nearly half the world; their combustion releases carbon dioxide and thus increases plant growth via increased CO2 fertilization effect, creating more food worldwide; and they provide the most reliable, efficient and low-cost energy for many uses, including the production of 61% of the nation’s electricity.

- The number of people worldwide who are moderately or severely food insecure is 2.3 billion, including over 900 million who face severe food insecurity. Each ton of carbon dioxide emissions eliminated reduces the amount of food available worldwide.

Yes. They won’t be happy until the general public is living in paleolithic conditions, maybe even worse than that since they probably won’t be allowed to light fires.

I recollect from a geography class that it takes two square miles of temperate or better climate to support one person in a hunter/gatherer society.Going back to that will mean most people on the planet are dead men walking.

Agenda47: Liberating America from Biden’s Regulatory Onslaught
April 16, 2023

President Donald J. Trump will liberate America from Joe Biden’s wasteful and job-killing regulatory onslaught and reign in the out-of-control bureaucracy in Washington, D.C.

In a new Agenda47 policy video, President Trump announced a series of bold actions to restore control of our government to the American people.

President Trump will bring the independent regulatory agencies, such as the FCC and the FTC, back under Presidential authority, as the Constitution demands. No longer will unelected members of the Washington Swamp be allowed to act as the fourth branch of our Republic.

President Trump vowed to restore his successful executive order requiring that for every one NEW regulation, two OLD regulations currently on the books must be eliminated.

In addition, President Trump will create an ultra-streamlined federal regulatory framework specifically for new Freedom Cities, which will lead to invention of new industries and provide Americans with safe and affordable living.

President Trump promised to implement a regulatory budget to place a hard cap on the costs of government regulation, ban bureaucrats from pursuing enforcement action on informal guidance alone, and will require all government regulations be posted publicly or be made null and void.

Finally, President Trump will take swift and unprecedented action to protect Americans from the out-of-control Deep State.

“I will require every federal employee to pass a new Civil Service test demonstrating an understanding of our Constitutional limited government,” President Trump said. “This will include command of due process rights, equal protection, Free Speech, religious liberty, federalism, the Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure—I know all about that at Mar-a-Lago, don’t I— and all the other constitutional limits on federal power.”

When President Trump returns to the White House, he will put unelected bureaucrats back in their place, liberate the U.S. economy, and attract millions of jobs and trillions of dollars to our shores.

TRANSCRIPT

Cutting wasteful and job-killing regulations was a key part of my America First economic agenda that built the greatest economy in the history of the world.

As I work to quickly save America from Joe Biden’s economic disaster—and that’s what it is, one of the great economic disasters of all time—I will restore my famously successful executive order requiring that for every one NEW regulation, two OLD regulations must be eliminated—and I will ask Congress to make it permanent.

We will again implement a regulatory budget, putting a hard cap on the cost of regulations to the U.S. economy. Instead of GROWING the size and scope of the federal government every year, we will SHRINK it every year with aggressive cost reduction targets for each federal department.

In addition, I will require that all agency regulatory guidance must be posted publicly in a central database, or else be rendered null and void. And many of them will in fact be null and void. This will effectively repeal a mountain of stealth regulations and threats that rogue bureaucrats have imposed without proper oversight.

And I will sign a law to ban bureaucrats from taking any enforcement action based on informal guidance alone. For example, never again will bureaucrats be allowed to bully and pressure banks to choke off or financially de-platform politically disfavored industries. We’re not going to let that happen.

Next, I will bring the independent regulatory agencies, such as the FCC and the FTC, back under Presidential authority, as the Constitution demands. These agencies do not get to become a fourth branch of government, issuing rules and edicts all by themselves. And that’s what they’ve been doing. We will require that they submit any regulations they are considering for White House review.

In addition, we will create an ultra-streamlined federal regulatory framework specifically for Freedom Cities, allowing them to be true frontiers for the return of U.S. manufacturing, the invention of new industries, the rebirth of economic opportunity, and safe and affordable living.

Finally, I will require every federal employee to pass a new Civil Service test demonstrating an understanding of our Constitutional limited government. This will include command of due process rights, equal protection, Free Speech, religious liberty, federalism, the Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure—I know all about that at Mar-a-Lago, don’t I— and all the other constitutional limits on federal power.

We will put unelected bureaucrats back in their place, liberate the U.S. economy, and attract millions of jobs and trillions of dollars to our shores.

Thank you very much.

government agencies exist for one reason and one reason alone...to slowly but surely crush the will of the people for whom government was instituted in the first place. it’s difficult enough to now say NO! to this supposed benevolent government and its many agencies but now government demands that YOU disarm yourself, for the children, so that no one CAN say NO!.

One thing to celebrate is Argentina’s membership in BRIChinaS. I take this as the Argentinian renouncement of Western green wokeism and its potential to destroy Argentina’s grain and beef industries.

I can’t wait for some enterprising engineer to not only figure out a way to efficiently capture AND re-use the CO2, but then to make the process available cheaply to the entire industry — thus gutting the enviro-whackos’ entire cause.

Not Millions. Billions.

The engineered shortage of fossil fuels has led to a shortage of fossil fuel fertilizer.

The shortage of fossil fuel fertilizer will mean a shortage of food 2023 - 2026.

most important and concise argument against “carbon sequestration” and other anti-carbon/CO2 arguments.

Your statement is predicated on CO2 actually being a harmful pollutant, human released CO2 should be controlled and human released CO2 is cotributing in any significant way to the earth's natural post ice age warming cycle.

THE WHOLE THING IS A POLITICAL HOAX.

Can anyone cite a time when a federal agency was dissuaded from implementing a rule because of either quantity or quality of comments?

These people do what they want, and the public be damned. ATF, FAA, EPA, etc.

Maybe they will call it something scientific sounding yet catchy like Photosynthesis.
