Reenactors are marking the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, a turning point in the Civil War.
Hundreds of spectators are watching history come alive at the Daniel Lady Farm.
The annual battle reenactment has brought together 2,000 Union and Confederate reenactors for the three-day event.
Some of them are in their 70s and 80s and have been taking part for forty years or longer.
The history buffs aren't just from the U.S. News 8 spoke to a man about why he came from Canada.
"As a Canadian, there were hundreds if not thousands of what are now Canadians who fought and died here. It's part of our history as much as it is America," Larry Burden said

They replaced the old historical markers that simply state what happened on this spot and who was involved with “woke “ markers.
Words like “the enemy”, “traitors “ and such have replaced the older simple facts of strategy, participants, significance and outcome.
They’ve editorialized Sharpsburg so I haven’t been there in years, despite living close by.

Sherman is rightly considered the first modern General. He was a brass knuckle warrior and eschewed all the chivalric nonsense espoused by others.
As he said,” War is hell.”
Reasonable people could disagree. He burned and slaughtered people who were his countrymen just a few short years beforehand. He was invading their towns and homes. The ends justifies the means should be reserved for lawless savages not your former neighbors who shared your values.
Battlefield reenactments started relatively quickly after the war concluded. That is highly unusual, and I suspect it is one of the things that allowed the nation to more or less heal as quickly as it did.
