I see a huge after marker for built in gen sets that can fit in the bed underneath out of the way.

With a EV battery pack being mostly underneath the bed, would there be any room for a generator set? I could see one tucked inside the bed near the rear tucked in by wheel fender well protrusions....

Correct. EVs don’t idle like ICE cars. Of course radios, AC, etc. still draw power from the battery but only a tiny amount compared to the drive motors. Even so it is true that range is still a problem. I expect battery technology will continue to improve and eventually eliminate this issue.

You can't assume the battery is always fully charged. That tiny amount of electrical draw could be a big deal if your battery is close to needing a recharge but you get stuck in a large traffic jam in inclement weather. Recharging your cell phone isn't going to be an issue but continuously running a heater or A/C is a significant draw on a close to depleted battery (although nowhere near the engine draw).

Yes they can. But if you own an EV you know what you do that hurts range. You shut the house keeping stuff off if you are worried about this scenario. True story...I got caught in a traffic jam on the ca cost decades ago. Plenty of people ran out of gas sitting there! I wound giving one person a lift into Santa Barbara bu alm alternative route because her VW ran out of fuel. Happens to gas cars too...they are 3asiee to retrieve than an EV which would require towing.

For an interesting discussion of some assumptions on EV's and solar and wind, watch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZsXyDkyrCk&t=58s

I know it was made by Mikey Moore, but he makes the point that they have failed. They admit they have run out of lies to tell. They have spent hundreds of millions and still can't ignore the math. It's a good watch if you have the time.

The evidence is out there but you have to find it on your own. There is no clearing house to get all the answers in one place, especially if you are hiding the truth so you can make millions. Does anyone believe Pelosi and company isn't buying stock in battery companies, GM and Ford, Tesla, ect? If the government made Americans paint everything white to reject heat, they would buy mines that supply titanium dioxide and get rich.

If I’m on electric in my plug-in hybrid and sitting parked, the only usage my onboard computer records is climate and electronic systems which can be between 1-2 kilowatts.

Running the A/C isn’t too bad, but the heater definitely consumes more power in the winter. I believe there is also a heater for the battery pack to keep it at a warmer temperature.

Fortunately, winters tend to be short where I live.
