Finally Got My IRS Refund Today
Vanity

Posted on 07/15/2022 5:45:41 PM PDT by pfflier

I have seen a few vanities like this over the past few months asking about IRS refund checks being late. We file in February and usually see something in about a month, until this year.

The IRS "Where's My Refund" site has a note now saying that paper returns may take 6 months to process.

I also found out to access that site, you have to log in to the IRS site first and create an account. That was a chore.

I hope this is good news for those of you who are asking the "Where is my refund" question.

I’m still waiting on Brandon. I am also waiting for a corrected death certificate from Austin so that I can settle my parent’s affairs. It has been two months.

Direct deposit works great!

I sent my paper return in on February 8th, and it finally showed up on “Where’s My Refund” last week. My return was deposited, with $13 interest, two days ago.

I filed in mid-March and got my refund about two weeks later, as usual.

Addendum: I get a paper check, not direct deposit.

Compelling argument for the full REPEAL of the 16th Amendment.

Was there an obvious explaination why your return took 6 months to be sent, or is that simply how it can be nowadays?

I my 6K plus refund from my 2020 taxes (filed in March of 2021) that was mailed in on paper by my preparer....

In the middle of June 2022...15 months after filing.

Of course THEY don’t have to pay a penalty for being late or interest on the money.

So you gave an interest-free loan to the government? Why? I hope next year you or your tax person can correct it.

Don’t forget that you will have to report your $13 as income for next year’s taxes. It happened to me once about getting interest from the government. I wasn’t happy about it when I found out I had to report it.

Yeah, well that makes sense, especially since it has a lot of your personal information that you wouldn't want anyone getting hold of.

It seems they want everyone to file electronically.

That allows them direct access to your bank account.

Only if you’re going to share yours!

Seriesly, we are still waiting, over 4 months now. This is ridiculous.

I filed my 2018 return in 10/2020. Yes it was late. Yes I messed up. Yes it was the middle of covid pandemic crisis. I finally got my refund 11 months later.

I think you can just put in very limited info (not create an account). IT asks for the SSN, date the return was submitted, and amount of refund expected.

That has been our experience, at least.
