As a former 8 year old beer can collector, these were some of the COOLEST cans you could find on the side of the road.

Putting the beer tab in the can is a bad idea. Today, they would be sued out of existence the first time someone swallowed one.

Everyone used to do that. At least I did.

I remember the days of the pull tabs but I don’t remember ever putting into the beer can after opening it. Maybe I did, I just don’t remember.

First time I heard of Hamms Beer. My memory of 1970s beer was Schaefer beer. They were the official beer of the NY Mets.

Lots of people did. It was responsible. Kept people from getting their feet cut at the beach or park.

A beer is a beer is a beer is a beer, until you’ve tasted Hamms.

I did it for years with soda cans. It would take a truly stupid person to swallow one, even if it managed to get back out of the can.

I forgot. Sometimes I would use them to make some fine jewelry for the lady.

First Hamm’s commercial I saw in color was one Christmas when we got snowed in while on the road and had to get a hotel. In the early 60s. They had the cartoon bear and penguins.

Must have been a regional ad.

I'd have remembered if it aired out West.

Did you notice that after they pulled off the pop-top, they dropped it into the can? The second time, the guy looked like he was going to just toss it away but caught himself. Subtle...
