Stupid to fire at anything that you haven’t positively identified. I pray that his brother heals quickly, experiences a full recovery, and beats his ass.

He mistook his brother for a deer...I guess there are some democrat hunters.

Reminds me of that “Family Guy” cutaway where Dick Cheney shoots Peter repeatedly and then says “Sorry I thought you were a deer.”

Johnny and Cletus are out in the woods hunting when Cletus falls to the ground. He doesn’t seem to be breathing and his eyes are rolled back in his head.
Johnny whips out his cell phone and calls 911. Panic-stricken, he says to the operator, “I think Cletus is dead! What should I do?”
The operator, in a calm soothing voice says, “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.”
There is a silence, then a shot rings out.
Johnny comes back on the line. He says, “OK, now what?”

Do deer in Michigan wear blaze orange vests & hats?
Most States require hunters to do so...

Clearly a family dynamic problem -- he always felt his family fawned all over his brother as they were growing up.

Around 1987, I had an experience which still is a mystery. Never happened before or since, not even close.
I was driving on a dirt road in Western, KS, North West of Dodge City. I passed over a slight rise and saw a wooden bridge maybe a hundred yards ahead.
I was not hunting or even thinking of hunting but saw a beautiful buck on the bridge looking at me. Clear as a bell.
I blinked my eyes and instead of the deer, it was a man just moving off it.

The shooter, a 29-year-old man from Saranac, told authorities that he believed he saw the deer moving and fired, but after firing realized he had struck his 28-year-old brother. And people wonder why I paint COW in orange on both sides of Evangeline.

Back in the day when I grew up, early 60’s in western Montana. If you were smart you never went out for around 2 weeks whan hunting season opened. You could sit in your back yard and listen to the gunfire. Sometimes sounded like Vietnam. Buck fever was running hot and heavy. People shot at noise, movement etc.
Classic case was a hunter on horseback with a rifle in a scabbard. Some other hunter heard the horse and figured it was an Elk. Took his shot at the noise. Pierced the horseman's leg, broke his rifle and killed the horse which fell pinning the rider. The eager shooter came running out to tag his “Elk”. Oops.
